THE WALK AWAY FROM COLON CANCER & 5K RUN

Is an event to raise awareness and funds to eliminate preventable colon cancer by increasing screening rates.

Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013. Festivities start at 8 a.m.; Walk/Run is at 9 a.m.

Iroquois Park  New Cut Road and Kenwood Drive

Each year, thousands of American families are affected by this common but little discussed disease.  Colon cancer is the 2nd leading cancer killer in both men and women in Kentucky, Indiana, and the whole U.S. despite the fact that it is one of the most preventable forms of cancer.

By participating in the 5K, you and your team join our growing movement to make colon cancer a disease of the past. The Colon Cancer Prevention Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit on a mission to end preventable colon cancer death and suffering.

Let’s walk, run, and jog for a world without colon cancer.

Adopt A Pet of the Week

Merriweather

Merriwether is a five-year-old Chihuahua mix. She’s curious but cautious because she’s not sure what to think of shelter life. She really prefers being held and carried around. She gets a great view, plus she gets to be close to people. Merriwether is great with other dogs and really loves her Chihuahua kennelmates. She’s also a striking girl, with beautiful, unusual looks. Her spotted fur looks like a tiny, tiny Australian shepherd. Her fur is soft as a bunny, so holding and petting Merriwether will be a treat for both of you.

You can visit Merriwether at Louisville Metro Animal Services’ Animal House Adoption Center, 3516 Newburg Road Louisville, KY 40218 or contact LMAS at (502) 473-PETS (7387) for more information.  www.louisvilleky.gov/animalservices.

Cinnaminn

Why Cinnamon has not yet been adopted is a mystery! She is a calm, elegant cat. Cinnamon looks like a postcard! Her heart is warm and flowing. She exhibits the kind of affection you might associate with a cat who would be the first to find a happy home! Yet, she just hasn't been picked. Are you ready to provide a second chance?
You can visit Cinnamon at the Animal House Adoption Center, 3516 Newburg Road or contact LMAS at (502) 473-PETS (7387) for more information. www.louisvilleky.gov/animalservices .
