District 3 Update

In January, Councilwoman Parrish-Wright will no longer be the Councilwoman for District 3, and a new member will be sworn in. The District 3 Advisory Board members have created a survey for whomever may assume this office. It is listed below. The Board members asked to distribute this questionnaire to the District 3 residents who may be the council member for District 3. One response has been received and the D3 office plans to share any and all responses by Monday.

1. Annexation: Would you support pursuing the annexation of Harold, Wallie Ann Court, and Delia Court into District 3? What steps would you take?

2. Lighting and safety: Would you support installing solar lighting beneath viaducts and along highway areas in District 3? How would you identify locations and move the work forward?

3. Watterson Lake and the park: Would you support bringing Watterson Lake and the adjoining park together as one coordinated District 3 initiative? What would that involve?

4. All 13 neighborhoods: How would you ensure that all 13 District 3 neighborhoods receive attention, resources, and opportunities to shape Metro decisions?

5. Neighborhood identity: Would you support installing or maintaining neighborhood banners and displays? We already helped replace the Cloverleaf sign and start the Hallmark banner replacements. Will you make sure the Hallmark Banners are completed? How would you involve residents in choosing and caring for them?

6. District 3 Parks Improvements: Would you support continuing the work we did by conducting a community survey and taking action to dedicate resources to all D3 Metro-owned parks: GG Moore, Harrison and Watterson Lake? We worked with Parks Alliance and the Mayors office on our goals. How would you use residents’ feedback to guide future decisions?

7. Neighborhood diversity: Would you support preserving and restoring the historically diverse character of District 3 neighborhoods? What actions would you take to help longtime residents remain and ensure these communities continue to reflect their history and diversity?

8. District Advisory Board: Would you support continuing monthly District Advisory Board meetings? How would you ensure the board and residents have a meaningful role in identifying priorities and tracking progress?

9. Economic growth and small businesses: How would you support economic growth and help stabilize small businesses in District 3?

10. District 3 Good Neighbor Awards: How would you support and facilitate the District 3 Good Neighbor Awards, which recognize residents who contribute to their neighborhoods?
