Our Beautiful Manslick Road Fence Chronicles

fence damage 1

It is with much disappointment we report that our beautiful Manslick Road fence has been damaged. It took

  1. At least three different council members
  2. Over $50,000
  3. Two directors of Public Works
  4. Multiple permits
  5. Permission from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet
  6. Countless emails
  7. Several meetings
  8. Many headaches

to get this brand new fence installed late last year. We are so proud that we were able to deliver this incredible result for the residents of the Nichols Meadow neighborhood.

Unfortunately, late last week, we were made aware that a car hit and damaged the fence. We are currently in the process of obtaining a quote from the fence installer on how much it would cost to repair the damage. As long as we can secure the approvals/permits and the price is reasonable, the District 3 office is prepared to pay the cost of repairs.

Unfortunately, because of the damage, we are postponing the scheduled staining of the fence.

Getting Neighborhood Banners

lge pole

if you've ever tried to install neighborhood banners, you know it is a challenge. We recently had a neighborhood association ask if we could replace banners with their neighborhood name that have since been deteriorated due to time and weather.

We are always happy to fulfill these requests, so we initiated the process. Apparently, if a banner is going to be placed, it needs to be on an existing pole, and if they are not telecommunications poles, they are LGE poles. They must also be placed at a certain height on the pole. For an LGE pole, LGE must approve the placement of a banner.

When we let LGE know the locations of the poles where we would like to place the banners, they asked us to find their pole numbers. Our staff helper, Jocelyn, drove around the neighborhood, two year old daughter in tow, and recorded the pole numbers at every location. It has now been one week since we forwarded the pole numbers to LGE and we have yet to hear back on whether or not a banner placement would be approved.

We've also requested a quote for the design, fabrication, and installation from Signarama. They are willing and able to do the work to the Metro required specifications, but we are simply waiting on LGE.
