  
Neighbors, have you ever felt intimidated by the Louisville Tennis Center? As a non-tennis player, I have!
Listen to this from the Tennis Center website: "More than 25 Grand Slam champions have competed at the Tennis Center...Arthur Ashe, Rod Laver, Jimmy Connors, Billie Jean King and John McEnroe are just a few of the great champions we have welcomed."
But the Louisville Tennis Center, in Joe Creason Park right between the Louisville Zoo and the Louisville Nature Center, is for everyone. Please join us for an open community day on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM. My office is renting out courts, bringing in USTA Kentucky to offer free clinics, and setting up an ice cream cart.
We also know that not everybody owns tennis racquets -- I don't -- so we purchased 50 of them, in kids' and adults sizes, and 200 new tennis balls for you to use that day. Afterward, this equipment will live at the Cyril Allgeier Community Center so any Louisville resident can check it out for free and try tennis on one of Louisville’s beautiful new or redone courts, from Shawnee Park to Petersburg Park to Seneca Park.

The Department of Codes & Regulations recently launched new public-facing dashboards to give residents a clearer look at the work happening across the city.
These dashboards make it easier to quickly find helpful information, including whether a property is scheduled for inspection, whether a home has a permit for construction work, or whether a vacant property is scheduled for cutting and cleaning. Click here to view them.

From WorldFest (see below!) and Reach Resource Fair to The Big Table, Citizenship Day, La Fiesta at the Zoo, and the Asian Night Market, there are opportunities throughout the month to connect, learn, celebrate, and build community.
The Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet, Solid Waste Management Services, and the Waste Management District will be hosting a Waste Tire Collection Event in Louisville on October 1-3 from 7:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Any Kentucky resident or business may participate, with the exception of tire retailers, scrap/salvage yards, and recycling facilities.

Angel Walk is a Louisville community event hosted by First Hour Grief Recovery, bringing families and loved ones together to honor and remember babies who have passed due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss. Calling all youths and artists, Brightside is looking for positive messaging that promotes community pride and discourages littering. The winning design will be mass-printed on yard signs and be freely distributed to all who want one as part of next year's community-wide cleanups. Use the QR code to submit your creation by November 20.
The Office for Women Ambassadors is a six-month training program for women and gender diverse individuals who represent the diverse communities across Louisville Metro. Through the program, participants will develop and hone their leadership skills, learn about issues impacting women, and explore government and community programs available to women.
