Today, Mayor Greenberg announced a one-day storm debris drop-off event this Saturday (August 22, 2026). Attached is a graphic you can use on socials or in your newsletter.

Storm Debris Drop-Off on Saturday

Jefferson County residents can take advantage of a one-day storm debris drop-off event on Saturday, August 22, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Four convenient locations include:

• Shawnee Park, 4501 W. Broadway
• Meriwether Lot, 535 Meriwether Ave.
• Public Works Yard, 595 N. Hubbards Ln.
• Public Works Yard, 10500 Lower River Rd. (enter from Bethany Lane)

Residents should bring only manageable tree debris, such as limbs, branches, and other cut tree material. Whole trees, including intact trunks with limbs or root balls attached will not be accepted at the drop-off locations. Construction materials, household waste, or other non-tree debris will also not be accepted.

The free service is available only to Jefferson County residents. Residents will be asked to provide their ZIP code and the license plate of the vehicle used to haul debris will be documented.

Contractors and businesses hauling storm debris are not eligible for the free residential drop-off event. Contractors and businesses may use Louisville Metro’s Waste Reduction Center for the usual fee.

NOTIFICATION LETTER - 3429 LARKWOOD AVE

To Whom It May Concern:

Please be advised MSD is applying for a permit to temporarily close Larkwood Ave between S 38^th St and Louis Coleman Jr Dr.  This permit will be to repair a sewer service connection.  While we anticipate this to be a short-term fix, maybe 1-2 days, we have requested the permit dates from 8-15-26 to 8- 29-26.  We are not sure how long the repair will take until we start digging.  These extra days will give MSD extra time if needed.

The traffic disturbance on Larkwood Ave will include one temporary street closure.  Through traffic will be detoured around this street closure.  An MSD employee will knock on the following addresses and hand them this letter.  If no one is home, a door knocker (see below) will be placed on the respective doorknobs. 

What to expect during MSD’s work:

1. Work will be between the hours of 8am to 6 pm.
2. MSD work signs, marking and channelizing devices will be on or near the streets.
3. Construction activities will likely result in some inconveniences for traffic which will include a temporary street closure.
4. Restoration work will comply with LMPW’s restoration policy and will include removal of all utility markings and debris as needed.

Please be advised MSD is applying for a permit to temporarily close Cecil Ave between W Market St and Herman St to repair a roadway cave-in.  There will be one (1) 5’x7’ asphalt cut.  We have requested a permit with the dates of 8-17-26 to 8-31-26.  We are not sure how long the repair will take until we start digging.  These extra days will give MSD extra time if needed.

Metro Government Warns Public of Scam Emails Targeting Applicants
Louisville Metro Government’s Office of Planning is warning residents and applicants about fraudulent emails claiming to be from Metro Government that request payment for “application approval fees.” These emails are not legitimate and should be ignored.
Louisville Metro Government will not request payment by email, wire transfer, or third-party payment platforms. All application fees are due at the time of submittal through official channels only. Legitimate application-related communications come directly from Louisville Metro staff by phone or from a @louisvilleky.gov email address.
