What’s up, District 10?! The last four months have been an absolute blast as I've been getting to meet so many of you, assist with the revitalization of the parks, help launch the inaugural Slab Fest, and just generally get settled into the role of Legislative Assistant for Councilwoman Josie Raymond.
If you’ve reached out to our office in any capacity, you’ve likely already spoken to me over the phone or through email. I wanted to share some helpful information out regarding some of the more frequent questions I get!
The most common requests our office receives are for potholes, speed humps, streetlights, and sidewalks. Each of these items are processed through the Department of Public Works and many common requests can be handled directly through Metro311 — no waiting required! Or contact Public Works directly at 502.574.5810 to talk to Director Wes Sydnor and his staff! While our office can assist in the process to facilitate Public Works repairing many of these items, please note that each Metro Council office receives precious few CIF dollars to appropriate for Public Works projects each year and some items such as sidewalks and new streetlights may take some time to procure upon initial request.
Having any issues with property maintenance in your neighborhood: overgrown grass, a dangerous tree situation, or a rat infestation? These issues are handled by the Department of Codes and Regulations, and you can also submit requests through Metro311! Or if you have any questions, call their office directly at 502.574.2508. Director Donald Robinson Jr. and staff do a terrific job assisting the district!

Yesterday, our office sent out an email regarding Lights Under Louisville and the survey the Mega Cavern has asked to be sent out to neighbors ahead of the light show season. Please see the below text from the email:
I know many of you are starting to think about the holiday traffic that descends on your neighborhood for Lights Under Louisville. I want you to know I have been working on this since last year.
Last December 23, while on a family vacation, I called LMPD 6th Division Major, Mindy Vance, who was also on vacation with her family, to discuss the unacceptable traffic conditions. This year must go better.
My office has stayed in close communication with the Mega Cavern team, pushing for improvements. I convened a meeting in May where I brought in a thick folder of printed out neighbor complaints from 2025, along with the entire 6th Division leadership team that approves traffic plans.
I urged the Mega Cavern to adopt ideas neighbors have proposed, including capping tickets, shuttling attendees, and giving neighbors a lump sum payment. I did not and will not get everything I ask for, but we are making progress. The police also shared with the Mega Cavern owner and staff that they received more calls to the area in late 2025 than they did in 2024.
I believe we are all committed to working in good faith to make meaningful changes to the traffic and communication process this year. We continue to elevate neighbor voice and work to secure opportunities for neighbors to provide feedback. This year there will be more traffic officers, car flags for neighbors, and a hotline that goes directly to the off-duty traffic contractor.

Einstein, Sandy's Pet Shop's beautiful Harlequin Macaw, was part of our family since the very beginning. Over the years, he greeted countless customers, bonded with every employee, and filled our space with his bright personality and talkative charm. May he fly high in the sky, and he will be deeply missed.

Louisville Cemetery is hosting a volunteer clean up on August 22 from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Trash bags, water, and gloves are provided for volunteers, and the D10 office is providing the L-TOOLS Trailer for clean up.
 Learn about the history of Haiti with University of Kentucky's Dr. Crystal Felima. Presented as part of Celebrating Our Neighborhood with Kentucky Refugee Ministries, this program explores Haiti's complex history as the first Black Republic and the second independent country in the Western Hemisphere. Check this event out on August 29 from 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM.
Next month, Audubon Park is having their city-wide yard sale on Saturday, September 26.

LMPD's 6th Division coupon books are $20 and they can be purchased with cash or with the QR code on the flyer. Proceeds support cookouts, snacks, and recognition items for officers in the 6th Division.

On August 17, 2026, the Kentucky Department for Public Health confirmed there's an ongoing measles outbreak in Kentucky. Fifteen (15) cases have been reported so far in Christian, Owen, Todd, Trigg and Washington counties. Most people who get measles are unvaccinated. To read more about this, click here.
Yesterday, Mayor Greenberg announced a one-day storm debris drop-off event this Saturday, August 26 from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM at four locations throughout the county. Residents should bring only manageable tree debris, such as limbs, branches, and other cut tree material. Whole trees, including intact trunks with limbs or root balls attached will not be accepted at the drop-off locations. Construction materials, household waste, or other non-tree debris will also not be accepted.
The Jefferson County Soil & Water Conservation District is hosting their annual Cover Crop Giveaway. They give away free cover crop to Jefferson County residents for use in their garden beds and host workshops to teach them how to use it. Interested parties can "preorder" seed using their form, but this will only be available until September 4th.
Building Bridges: LGBTQ+ Community Academy is a five-week program that promotes trust, communication, and understanding between LMPD and Louisville's LGBTQ+ community.

LMPD understands the ongoing anxiety people are feeling regarding car break-ins throughout the city, and created this graphic as a reminder for folks when leaving their vehicle. Remember to stay alert and vigilant!
Louisville Metro residents may qualify for help with summer cooling costs through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Summer Subsidy. Enrollment is open Aug. 3 through Sept. 11, or until funds are exhausted, and assistance is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Eligible households with incomes up to 150% of the federal poverty guidelines may receive a one-time benefit of $41 to $250, depending on income level and housing category. Benefits are paid directly to the household’s electric vendor.
To apply, Jefferson County residents may schedule an appointment through the automated appointment system. Appointments may be scheduled by phone at (502) 991-8391 or online at the LIHEAP Appointment Scheduler. The toll-free service is currently open and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All applicants will be required to supply the following documentation at time of application:
- Proof of Social Security Number or permanent residence card for each member of the household.
- Proof of income from the preceding month for all members of the household.
- Most current electric bill, which may be a statement from your landlord if electric is included in your rent or a bill/statement from utility company if you participate in a pre-pay electric program.
- The account number and name on the account for main heating fuel sources and electric bill.
The subsidy does not require a disconnect notice or past due bill. The benefit can be applied as credit on your account. Previous LIHEAP assistance does not affect a household's eligibility.

Effective August 18, new Waste Reduction Center hours have been implemented. Under the new schedule, the center will be closed for lunch from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Tuesday through Friday. In addition, the facility will close for the day at 4:30 PM Tuesday through Friday, rather than its current 5 p.m. closing time. Saturday operating hours will remain unchanged.
