Another neighborhood rocked by gun violence. After fatal shootings in Camp Taylor in late January and mid-February, I heard from neighbors who are rightfully concerned about where this is coming from and what is being done about it. It is unacceptable--everyone should feel safe and be safe in their neighborhood.
Please join me on the evening of Monday, March 30 for a town hall discussing recent violence in Camp Taylor. We will be joined by officers from LMPD's 6th Division and the Office of Violence Prevention. Officers will discuss the recent events and how they've stepped up work since then. We'll also have our Park Ranger, who can discuss park and pool security.
We'll meet at the Camp Taylor Memorial Park pavilion at 6pm on Monday, March 30.
Hope to see you,
Matt Wallace is the Producing Artistic Director for Kentucky Shakespeare and is a big reason why our city has such artistic and beautiful productions of Shakespeare in the Park. With this year having a record number of productions of The Tempest at our parks, we wanted to highlight him!
Matt first got involved with Kentucky Shakespeare 25 years ago - as an actor! He has been in leadership since August 2013. It is also where he met his wife, Tina Jo. In the summer of 2001 and a couple years after meeting her, he proposed on stage. Their “kids” are now 18 and 20. Tina’s worked at Derby Dinner Playhouse across the river for 23 years now and just completed her first year as Producing Artistic Director there.
This spring, he is looking forward to putting on The Tempest and their 46-park production of it. They will be kicking off their outdoor performances April 4 with two special performances of the show at the Louisville Zoo at 10AM and 2PM. He is super pumped about the performance at Klondike Park on May 9 at 6:30 PM.
Matt and Tina live near The Zoo, and the beautiful Joe Creason Park is their home park for walks and they are regulars at Oskar's. They love their neighborhood!
