Health Fair at Newburg Health Center - February 28th

Passport by Molina Healthcare is partnering with the Louisville Metro Public Health and Wellness Department and Kare Mobile to host a Health Fair at the Newburg Health Center on February 28th.  The event will include wellness and dental exams as well as Flu and HPV immunizations. 

According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, getting routine preventive care, including immunizations, dental and wellness exams, is important in identifying and addressing potential health risks early. This can often help people to have healthier, longer lives and avoid costly treatments. The Health Fair is Saturday, February 28th, 10:00 - 2:00 PM at 4810 Exeter Avenue, Louisville.

Congressman Morgan McGarvey's Congressional Art Competition

ELIGIBILITY: This competition is open to all high school students residing in KY-03 between grades 9-12. Students should participate in the art competition taking place in the district where they reside, not where they attend school. You can find your Member of Congress here.

OVERVIEW: The competition is hosted online with public voting for the winning artwork. Two winners are selected - an overall winner and a community winner. The overall winner will receive two roundtrip tickets to Washington, D.C., to attend the national award ceremony and have their artwork displayed in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol for one year. A runner-up community winner will also receive prizes including having their artwork displayed in the Louisville office for one year.

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Review the 2026 Rules and Regulations BEFORE submitting.
• Review submission instructions and required paperwork on our website, including the Student Information and Release Form.
• Fully complete this form by March 29, 2026, at 11:59 PM ET to enter the 2026 Congressional Art Competition. Submissions are only accepted through this form. Your artwork does not need to be framed to enter the competition. Only the winning pieces will need to be framed.
• You may enter multiple pieces into the competition. Please submit one form for each entry.
• AI generated artwork is strictly prohibited. Students may not collaborate on an entry.

KEY DATES:

• Submission form opens: February 2nd
• Deadline for submissions (completing this form): March 29th by 11:59 PM ET
• Public online voting portal opens: March 31st
• Public online voting portal closes: April 23rd at 12 PM ET

Heros on the Water Concert and Auction Fundraiser - March 8th

Heroes on the Water is a 501(c)3 non-profit (EID: 13-4367788) that provides recreational wellness experiences. The primary modality is kayak fishing, which has proven cognitive and emotional benefits. These programs incorporate structured activities in a pressure-free environment, creating opportunities for community building and personal healing. The area served is Bullitt County, Jefferson County and Shelby County.

A dedicated group of volunteers organizes events at no cost to participants or their families. Recurring activities provide participants with consistent access to healing support and involvement in a community of people with shared experiences. The ultimate objective is to empower these heroes to make positive changes in their lives, strengthen their family bonds, and make a lasting, positive impact on their community.

As the Jefferson County Clerk's Office prepares for this year’s elections, they are currently seeking individuals to serve as Election Officers. The office is respectfully requesting that you consider applying to play an important role in ensuring that polling locations are well-staffed for the upcoming election cycle.

Who Can Serve? - Registered Republicans and Democrats in Jefferson County. Voters registered as another party or independent can apply and may be used in certain situations. A recent change in your affiliation may affect eligibility.

Changing Your Space? Change Your Permit

What is a Change of Use permit?

A change of use permit is required in Louisville whenever a property’s use shifts from one type to another – like converting a retail space into a restaurant or a warehouse into offices – even if no construction is planned. These permits are issued by Construction Review, a division of the Department of Codes and Regulations. 

Why is it needed?

• Different uses have different safety, building code, and zoning requirements.
• Examples: Turning a house into a short-term rental, a warehouse into a gym, or a church into an event venue.

How to apply?

Apply online through Louisville Metro’s Accela Citizen Access portal. City staff will review for code, zoning, and safety compliance before approval. Louisville Metro Career Fair - March 10th - Updated Time

Louisville Metro Government is eager to find individuals who want to give back to their community by hosting a career fair allowing the public to interact with over 25 Metro Government departments looking to fill over 55 vacant positions. The event will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 10:00AM – 3:00PM, Louisville Slugger Field, 501 East Market Street.

The fair will provide the public the chance to ask questions of hiring managers from all Metro Government departments and to apply for positions on-site. Job openings cover a huge range of skills and interests, and all levels of experience and education. People are encouraged to bring their resumes.

AT&T Obtained Permit to Place Fiber Optic Cable Within District 24

AT&T has been issued permit # PW-RLA-26-00027 to place fiber optic cable within District 24. Attached is a site map showing the planned work location. (The main road that goes all the way through the area is Hillcross Drive.) Work dates will range from 2/11/2026 – 05/19/2026 with cleanup to take no longer than one week upon construction completion.

VITA Provides Free Income Tax Prep - Check to See If You Are Eligible

The Metro United Way has joined with the Annie E. Casey Foundation and several local partners to launch the Louisville Asset Building Coalition (LABC) to help hardworking families capitalize on the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and other eligible tax credits. LABC works with the IRS and a program called Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) to provide free income tax preparation for families with household incomes $70,000 or less.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide

The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, is a free tax preparation program provided by AARP Foundation volunteers. In Kentucky, AARP offers in-person and virtual tax preparation help to anyone for both federal and Kentucky State taxes.
