For the latest on what's happening around District 10, follow Councilwoman Raymond on Facebook and Instagram.
If you get the enews late or don't get it, please check to see if your inbox is full.

Since it seems we need to share this info earlier than usual this year, here's a reminder of where to find Louisville Metro's snow routes:
Click on the Snow Map and zoom in to find the streets nearest you that will get treated. I know people are never satisfied—I routinely slide through the stop sign at the end of my street too—but this route does include 2,750 miles of roads. Our office continues to submit suggestions for revisions and additions in our neighborhoods.
I also want to shoutout my two amazing interns I had this semester from the University of Louisville. Mia Soard and Mahder Garredew joined my office at the beginning of the semester and helped plan events, worked with constituent services and learned the ins and outs of Metro Council. I wish them nothing but the best during the rest of their time at UofL.
If you have other resources we should know about, or have specific safety concerns, always let us know. Frustratingly, you can't reply to this newsletter but I'm at josie.raymond@louisvilleky.gov.
The Louisville Zoo
If you think The Zoo is only a fun place to be during the Summer, then you are mistaken. Our Louisville Zoo is still open during the winter months, and has a lot in store for you to participate in with your friends, family, school and camp groups, etc.
Just recently, they announced two new Sumatran orangutans joining the Zoo family for the first time in nearly 30 years. Pictured below, meet Sumagu (sue MA goo), a 38-year-old female orangutan, and her seven-year-old daughter, Kera (care ah). Both come to Louisville from the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
I love having The Louisville Zoo located in D10. Continue scrolling to see all the fun activities they have in store over the next couple of months.
The Zoo is open daily year-round. Now through March 20, 2026, hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with guests exiting by 5 p.m. The Zoo is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Visit louisvillezoo.org for more information.
It's Wild Winter Days at the Louisville Zoo!
During November 1, 2025 through Feb. 28, 2026 the Louisville Zoo is teaming up with Kroger for their Wild Winter Days program.
Visitors who bring in one canned food item or non-perishable food item (per person) to donate to Dare to Care may purchase tickets at the Zoo ticketing windows for $11 per adult and $8 per child / senior ticket. Remember that 25 cents of every admission ticket sold supports Louisville Zoo conservation efforts in Kentuckiana and around the world. This only applies to in-person purchased tickets, NOT online.

I was able to join John Campbell of Greenman Outdoor Designs and Mayor Madeline Bozeman of Audubon Park to discuss the new stage being constructed in Wren Park. We even got to experience the Fairy Tree/Garden nearby. Tatiana the Fairy Queen was looking down on us from a nearby tree, and I definitely felt her presence.

The above map is what the flow of traffic will look like on peak, congested days of the light show.
The annual light show runs this year from November 14th through January 3rd.
This year, "Lights Under Louisville" will be supported by the LMPD Traffic firm that also handles other major Louisville events: the Kentucky Derby, Yum Center, Louisville City FC, and Racing Louisville FC. As in past years, we are engaged with LMPD and Chief Ron Fey, who has served as head of LMPD’s Traffic Division, to reduce lines and keep them moving.
"Lights Under Louisville" will once again open at 9:00 a.m. to encourage daytime attendance, a strategy that was effective last season. For "Lights Under Louisville" concerns and suggestions, neighbors should call Senior Director of Marketing Lauren Parker at 502-736-9595. She is already working on signage for neighbors' yards.
Thank you for your patience during the holiday season!

The Louisville Department of Transportation has released their plans for dealing with winter weather. Check it out!
|
The cold months are here! Vacant properties in our neighborhoods face a higher risk of crime, fires, break-ins, and other safety hazards. Unsecured buildings can threaten the safety of our entire community. The Department of Codes and Regulations urges residents and property owners to act now so we can protect our community together.
Property owners are required to keep vacant properties clean and secure to prevent emergencies and stay compliant with city codes. Taking proactive steps now helps avoid costly incidents and keeps everyone safer as temperatures drop.
If you have concerns regarding a vacant or abandoned property, or require guidance in securing your own, please contact our office at (502) 574-2508. Your help plays a vital role in maintaining safe and healthy neighborhoods throughout the winter season.
Let's join forces to freeze out fire risk and protect our community––your action matters.

Do you remember how cold it got last Winter, and how a local food hall was generous enough to open their doors to those in need of shelter but got in trouble for it?
As a response to this, Metro Council passed an ordinance allowing for organizations to become emergency shelters.
Now, we need your help spreading the word. If there is an organization wanting to apply for a permit to allow their doors to open in times of an emergency, they can learn more about the process at this link.
If you have any questions, please get in contact with the Office of Planning.

Anti-Racism Challenge (ARC) begins January 2nd.
The free 4-Week Challenge works in much the same way as a food challenge or lifestyle challenge: by regularly participating in anti-racism activities, we naturally develop better habits of noticing and challenging racism in our daily lives.
Each week, participants will receive a free email with a list of 12 antiracism activities, such as read an article, view a documentary, contact an elected official, etc; all that is asked is you complete three activities.
It’s individual, you don’t report to anyone. Click here to learn more.
