 District 21 Community Clean-Up – October 18
Councilwoman Betsy Ruhe invites residents to join a neighborhood beautification effort in partnership with Brightside and The Well Coffee Co. Volunteers will meet at 5225 New Cut Rd at 10:00 AM. Supplies including t-shirts, gloves, and trash bags will be provided.
This initiative supports a cleaner, greener Louisville and encourages civic engagement.
Reminder: The Iroquois Park Farmers Market will be open from 8 AM to 12 PM.

 Free Health Services- No Insurance Needed!
The GLOH clinic is a completely free clinic run by the University of Louisville School of Medicine in collaboration with local physicians. They offer health services to any individual in the area, without insurance or referrals. The GLOH clinic is great for free school sport physicals and treatment of common sicknesses, but students and their families are welcome to come into the clinic for other services as well.
The Free Health Clinic operates out of Iroquois Family Health Center (4100 Taylor Boulevard) on Mondays at 6pm, and the dates for the remainder of the year are: 10/13, 10/20, 11/3, 11/10, & 11/17.
GLOH takes walk-ins only, and no appointments are necessary! Spanish interpreters are available.
Come out to Iroquois Park this weekend to experience the scenic views of the North Overlook.🌳🌿 The road is open on the 2nd Saturday and Sunday of the month from 10am-4pm until November! Each date is weather dependent.

Join TRIAD for Lunch Tuesday, October 14th!
TRIAD is a monthly lunch and learn meeting open to public where seniors and services providers can come together to network and bring awareness to safety concerns for older adults. Discussion topics include prevention of elder abuse, updates on scams/fraud, public safety, and much more.
Fall Bazaar at Epworth Methodist Church
Come out to Epworth United Women in Faith’s FALL BAZAAR on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Epworth United Methodist Church, 919 Palatka Rd, Louisville, KY. Past funds raised from this event have gone to support Wesley House Community Services, South Louisville Community Ministries and other local ministries in the Louisville area to name a few.
 October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Each year The Center for Women and Families, its staff, and board host events to raise awareness of the dangers and traumatic impact of domestic violence on survivors and youth. The flyer above details all events hosted and attended by The Center for Women and Families during October. Particular attention is drawn to The Center for Women and Families' signature event, “Speak Their Names," held on October 14th. This year, Senator Julie Raque Adams will be our guest speaker, along with Louisville Metro Police Chief Paul Humphrey and Mayor Craig Greenburg. The event will be remembering more than 10 individuals who lost their lives to domestic/intimate violence.
Louisville Male High School Band Yard Sale and Booth Rental
Come out and support Louisville Male High School’s Band! Male High School Band will be holding a yard sale/booth rental on October 18th to support the Band this year! The community will get a chance to set up shop at Male and make some money for themselves! You can rent a vendor booth spot here.
WesFest Annual Fall Festival 🎃
Come out to The WesFest Annual Fall Festival, on Friday, October 24th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wesley House. Bring your family for fun, games, costumes, and community resources. Residents, The Louisville Water Company is scheduled to begin construction on a water main replacement project in the Fern Valley Road area soon. Work is expected to continue through January 3, 2026. Some work may cause a temporary water outage during the day. LWC schedules planned outages 24 hours in advance. The Contractor/Inspector will either knock or leave a notice on your front door. If LWC conducts works on your block, there may not be parking available on the street during work hours. If you have any critical water needs that may need to be addressed during these scheduled water outages, or any other questions, please contact (502) 272-4881.

Join LMPD's International Leadership Program
The Louisville Metro Police Department is conducting its 4th annual International Leadership Program! During the LMPD ILP, members of Louisville's international communities will have an opportunity to meet several police officers and learn about their responsibilities serving the community. The participants will also have the chance to speak with the LMPD Chief of Police and share their concerns about their community and establish a plan on how LMPD is able to work together, exploring best practices in building trust and transparency between communities.

The Louisville Fire Department is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association to promote this year's Fire Prevention week campaign: "Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home." The Louisville Fire Department wants to share these safety tips:
- Only buy listed products. Look for a safety certification mark such as UL, ETL, or CSA. This means it meets important safety standards.
- Charge devices safely. Always use the charging cords that came with the product. Follow the instructions from the manufacturer. Buy new chargers from the manufacturer, or ones approved by the manufacturer.
- Do not overcharge your devices. Unplug it or remove the battery when it is fully charged.
- Recycle batteries responsibly. Do not throw away lithium-ion batteries in the trash can or regular recycling bins because they could start a fire. Take to a safe recycling location. The Louisville Metro Haz Bin Household Hazard Waste Drop-off is located at 7501 Grade Ln.
Be sure you have working smoke alarms, and they are tested monthly. If you do not have one and live in the Urban Services District, contact Metro 311 to request that the Louisville Fire Department come out and test or replace your smoke alarms free of charge. Louisville Fire can also provide a home safety check to ensure you are as safe as possible.

LIHEAP:
Enrollment for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Winter Crisis, available through Kentucky's Community Action Network for eligible households, will be available again on November 3rd, 2025, through December 12th, 2025. Benefits vary based on housing category, fuel type, and income level and can be used for home heating costs, including electric, natural gas, propane, coal, wood, or fuel oil.

Go to the airport's website www.flylouisville.com. At the top of the page, click on CORPORATE tab. Under the heading LRAA, click on the tab for NOISE COMPATIBILITY PROGRAM. Near the bottom of the page, look for Flight Tracking and click the button for NEAR-LIVE FLIGHT TRACKS DISPLAY. Click the Flight Tracking heading at the top of the page. Click the Accept button to accept the terms and conditions and you can begin viewing flights.

We are asking for your help to ensure that we are correctly setting out our recycling carts in our district. Follow these tips to ensure that your recycling gets picked up time!
Do: Make sure the lid is closed flat and break the boxes down flat to maximize space.
Don't: Set boxes beside the cart or leave lid open or overflow the cart
