Ben and Jocelyn canvassed the South Louisville neighborhood this week to invite constituents to our fall events! We are planning to canvass neighborhoods and knock on doors on Tuesdays and Thursdays as long as the weather permits. While our goal is to remind our residents of fall events, please also let us know your concerns. Last night, we learned about the traffic issues at Iowa and Rodman Street.
Any time someone from the District 3 office participates in canvassing, we will be identifiable by our badges, our car magnets, and our nametags. We will also soon have shirts that identify we are with the Louisville Metro Council District 3 office.
The District 3 Team also met with the Department of Transportation this week. Some of the concerns we talked about include: potential re-paving on Old Miller's Lane, a traffic calming project for Arcade Avenue, and the fence along Manslick Road. It seems we will be able to move forward with the fence along Manslick Road, but we will provide an update when we have more firm information.
We are happy to report that speed humps have successfully been installed on Fust Avenue. We are also happy to report that the project to install new lighting along the 1600 block of Harold Avenue has passed the full Metro Council, and that should begin as soon as LG&E can schedule the project.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the office at 502-574-1103. Please continue to invite the office to participate in your events, and letting us know what concerns we can help address.
We in District 3 are SO EXCITED for Fall 2025! We have three upcoming events that we can't wait for. The first is a townhall with the Commonwealth's Attorney Gerina Whethers at Shively City Hall on October 21st. The second event will be District 3's take on Building Our Block at Watterson Lake Park on November 1st from 12pm-5pm. And lastly, rounding out 2025, on November 29th from 1pm-3pm we will be hosting our second annual Good Neighbor Awards!
In combination with the holidays, the great food, and our events, we are ready for this fall!
Our next district advisory board meeting will be on Tuesday, September 30th at 6pm. We are still confirming the location, but we will have that by the beginning of next week!
 District 3 Building Our Block
The District 3 Office will be taking a page out of District 15's book and we will be hosting a Building Our Block event this fall. We have confirmed that out Building Our Block and Chili Cook-Off will be on Saturday, November 1st from 12pm-5pm at Watterson Lake Park (1714 S Wheatmore Drive). We have reached out to over 20 potential participants and plan to have food, games, and resources. All FOR FREE!
 Good Neighbor Awards
We are so excited about our second annual Good Neighbor Awards! This year, it will take place at The Heritage, behind Shively City Hall, on November 29th from 1pm-3pm.
Please nominate your good neighbors HERE!
You may nominate your neighbor online, via a phone call to the office, or by a paper ballot (please let the office know if you would like a paper ballot! We can be reached at 502-574-1103).
On our most recent podcast, we talked to a couple of our good neighbors! You can listen HERE, or you can tune in to WLLV today at 3pm to hear the whole discussion!
Be sure to follow our Facebook and Instagram pages for more fun announcements about the Good Neighbor Awards!
Councilwoman Parrish-Wright and Ben both received their mailers this week, and we hope you received yours. We have a few extras at the office, so if you would like one of our magnets, please let us know! You can call the office at 502-574-1103.
Do you know what is on a utility pole? Did you know each pole has a unique tag and identification number? Ben didn't either! This week, our office connected with the utility coordinator in Public Works, and we learned about street lights and where they are located across the district. More importantly, we learned about how to report street lights when they are out: through the 311 app. You may upload photos of the out light, and report the pole's unique tag number.
This is an example of what a newer tag for LG&E poles looks like. Generally, all tags should be at eye level, and easy to identify. Below, we've also included a graphic of what is actually on a utility pole.
Please consider supporting the Hallmark neighborhood by attending their fall fundraiser and joining their trip to Bally's in Evansville, Indiana on October 11th. The bus will depart at 9am!
If you are a resident of the Hallmark neighborhood, please also consider attending their neighborhood meetings on the second Monday of every month at 7pm at Southern Star Baptist Church.
