BBB Warns: Scam Alert – Phony “Louisville Fashion Week” Event

September 24, 2025 – BBB serving Greater Kentucky and South Central Indiana warns of a potential scam involving a non-existent event.

Mellwood Art Center alerted BBB via BBB's ScamTracker of a website promoting an event called “Louisville Fashion Week.” The website, www.louisvillefashionweek.net, promotes a four-day event scheduled for November 6th through 9th at the venue. However, according to staff at Mellwood, they have no knowledge of Louisville Fashion Week, and no such event has been booked at their facility.

Furthermore, the website also claims special hotel rates are available at the Brown Hotel and 21c Hotel when using the code LVFW; BBB has verified with both hotels that they do not have any special rates under this code. Image searches conducted via Google lens reveal that images appearing in the website’s gallery are actually photos from unaffiliated fashion shows and programs.

The website is currently advertising tickets for the Louisville Fashion Week, with prices ranging from $500 to $950. BBB strongly urges consumers NOT to purchase tickets through this website, as it is very likely a scam intended to rob victims of their money (and possibly personal information) by selling tickets to a fake event. Any consumers who have already purchased tickets through louisvillefashionweek.net are advised to contact their credit card issuer or bank and file a fraud alert.

For more information or to file a scam report, contact BBB at (800) 388-2222 or visit bbb.org.

ABOUT BBB: For more than 100 years, the Better Business Bureau has been helping people find businesses, brands and charities they can trust. The International Association of Better Business Bureaus is the umbrella organization for the local, independent BBBs in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Metro Animal Services Launch Partnership with DocuPet

LOUISVILLE, KY September 29, 2025 — Today Mayor Greenberg and Metro Animal Services made licensing pets easier by launching its partnership with DocuPet, a world-leading pet profile, lost pet and licensing platform. Through pet licensing and their complimentary HomeSafe® 24/7 lost pet service, DocuPet offers residents an effective pet identification and reunification program that keeps pets out of shelters and returns them home safely. Though pet licensing is mandatory for cats and dogs, many local pet owners do not license their pets regularly. With the announcement of this new partnership, DocuPet and Metro Animal Services hope to attract community pet owners to the program.
“This partnership is another step forward in our commitment to community safety, which includes the safety of our family pets," said Mayor Greenberg. “Using a platform like DocuPet is one of the best and quickest ways to ensure your pet is properly licensed, can be reunited with you, and can help free up much-needed space at our animal shelter.”
Residents can browse hundreds of colorful and unique designer tag styles online or design their own tags with an easy-to-use customization tool. Every DocuPet tag is equipped with the free HomeSafe® 24/7 lost pet service and may double as a pet’s official license. DocuPet tags are assigned a unique code on the back, which links directly to a pet’s secure online profile, making it easy for anyone who finds a lost pet to reference the code and create a Found Pet Report in seconds. Pet owners can also create Lost Pet Reports as soon as they realize their pet has gone missing.
In addition, DocuPet’s dedicated dispatch staff is available 24/7 to reunite lost pets with their families.
“We are excited about our partnership with DocuPet as their online licensing solution will be extremely valuable to pet owners and necessary for animal safety within the community,” said Andrew McClinton, Director of Metro Animal Services. “This pet licensing partnership will help to reduce the number of animals in local shelters as well as open space and vital resources for pets that truly need our care. We are excited for residents to utilize this program to help protect their pets and all pets in the community.”
With a mission to provide a safe and happy home for every pet, DocuPet’s innovative platform will supply significant resources to Metro Animal Services, allowing it to operate efficiently and deliver critical animal services. “We are very proud to kick off this effective program to increase pet identification and reunification services for all residents,” said Grant Goodwin, DocuPet’s CEO. “Pets wearing DocuPet tags spend little to no time in the shelter versus unlicensed pets. We thank Metro Animal Services for coming on board to be an impactful part of the solution."

All cats and dogs in Louisville must be licensed and vaccinated against rabies.
Pet owners can learn more and register pet licenses online at https://louisvilleky.docupet.com/
Licensing by mail, phone, or in person is also available.
