CW Tammy Hawkins and the District 1 office had the last Algonquin Community Day this year. Algonquin Pool officially closed to the public on August 2, 2025.
Our offices event, allowed for 600 people (Two Pool Capacities) admittance into the pool for FREE. Paid for 300 People to eat for FREE and included a Fun in the Sun, Kids activities Zone and Free Backpack Give-A-Way in partnership with Reynolds and the Office of Social Services.
This was a wonderful celebration to spend the Algonquin Pool summer closeout. Algonquin Community was the very first and last people to access the pool in their OWN Backyard!

CW Tammy Hawkins spoke at this weeks KY Public Service Commission in Frankfort to the Public Hearing as it related to
Case# 2025-00114 ELECTRONIC APPLICATION OF LOUISVILLE GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY FOR AN ADJUSTMENT OF ITS ELECTRIC AND GAS RATES AND APPROVAL OF CERTAIN REGULATORY AND ACCOUNTING TREATMENTS on behalf of her constituents, the residents of District 1, encouraging the KY PSC to Vote NO on rate increases that residents may face as a result of the Data Center Development located at 6001 Camp Ground Road.

The Louisville Water Company is applying for a permit to close S. 28th Street between Hale Avenue and Virginia Avenue.

 On 7/28/25 the Solid Waste Enforcement team located a vehicle in the 1400 Blk of Beech St (District 1) that had been involved in illegal dumping of debris onto the ground at 1500 Blk of Hemlock St (District 1) on two different occasions.
The Solid Waste Enforcement Team received these images via surveillance camera footage and a citation was issued to the registered owner of the vehicle which included 1250 dollars of fines and the impoundment of their vehicle.
They can retrieve their vehicle out of impound in 72 hours after the fine and fees are paid. The individual admitted to the wrong doing. Thanks to our whole team for another successful impound!
  The Bowman Field parking lot will be undergoing maintenance this month, which means the recycling dumpsters will be temporarily removed.
⚠️ The Bowman Field recycling drop-off location will be temporarily closed from August 8–11 for paving. Please use alternative drop-off sites during this time. We appreciate your cooperation and patience!

Use of the site may resume on Monday, August 12.
 
Our office worked with Savannah Darr, Historic Preservation to provide constituents with a little more helpful information as it relates to making the Chickasaw Neighborhood a Historically Preserved District.
