Our recent Pop-Up Drop-Off event at Fern Creek High School on Saturday, July 19 was a resounding success, drawing 728 participants, mostly from surrounding neighborhoods, and achieving an impressive 47% diversion rate (the percentage of waste that is kept out of landfills by being reused, recycled or composted).

Despite a last-minute challenge caused by construction that limited access to the elementary school parking lot, the team quickly adapted the site layout. While the reduced space led to extended wait times, the line remained steady all day. At 2 pm, we closed the entrance with approximately 50 vehicles still in line and stayed open past the scheduled end time to ensure every participant was served.
Most common items collected: Large household goods, electronics, and documents for shredding.
Remaining 2025 Pop-Up Drop-Off Schedule:
- August 23: Metro Fleet Services, 3515 Newburg Rd
- September 27: Sun Valley Park/Ashby Lane Baptist, 10401 Lower River Rd/6617 Ashby Ln
- October 18: Metro Fleet Services, 3515 Newburg Rd
- November 15: UofL Shelby Campus, 440 N Whittington Pkwy

ALL AGES SHOW!
Wolf Tales is a fast-paced, comedic retelling that weaves together The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, and an original story that brings them all together in unexpected ways.
Leo, a former peasant turned hunter, and his wife Caroline are on a mission to rid the forest of wolves — especially the notorious B.B. (Big Bad Wolf). Their journey brings them face-to-face with three hilariously messy pig sisters — Darla, Marge, and Tiffany — and a fiercely independent Little Red Riding Hood on her way to visit Granny Blanche. Meanwhile, B.B. and his loyal sidekick Max are on their own hunt… for dinner.
This interactive show features three possible endings — each determined by audience vote!

Babybel is a professional tug toy destroyer (except her beloved Lambchop, that's her baby), and makes the funniest froggy groans you’ve ever heard. She’s been bouncing between shelter and foster since October! Someone give this snuggly, sunbathing queen her throne already.
Housetrained, full of charm, and just dramatic enough to yell at the mailman before begging him for pets.
6 years old, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines! Her adoption fee is covered by Friends of Metro Animal Services, Louisville, KY
Come meet Babybel TODAY, she’s weird, wonderful, and ready to go home.
Visit Animal House today at 3516 Newburg Road, open daily noon–6 pm. Learn more and apply to adopt and see all adoptable pets.

LMPD has reported a recent increase in vehicle thefts, with Dodge vehicles being targeted most frequently.
|
Suspects are typically visiting neighborhoods late at night to photograph the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of targeted cars. Using this information, they create a duplicate key and return, sometimes the same night or within a few days, to steal the vehicle.
If you capture this activity on your security cameras, please report it immediately to the LMPD Non-Emergency Line at 502-574-5673. This allows officers to monitor affected areas the following nights in case the suspects return to steal the vehicle.
