New speed limit signs to be placed Tuesday, July 1
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (June 27, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of a speed limit reduction on U.S. 42 next week in Jefferson County.
On U.S. 42, the speed limit will be reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph beginning just West of Del Haven Avenue and extending eastward to just west of River Road. KYTC crews are scheduled to update the speed limit signs on Tuesday, July 1. Motorists should heed signage, use caution, and adhere to the newly posted speed limit.
The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. Visit goky.ky.gov for the latest in traffic and travel information in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. For the week of June 30
Zone 2 (River Road between Blankenbaker Lane and Lime Kiln Lane) will be limited to local access only. There will be staggered barricades to provide residents with access where River Road intersects with Lime Kiln Lane and at Blankenbaker Lane.
Our active construction zone is moving further east this week (June 30 – July 6). See the map below for details. We will be working between the River Valley Club and Rockledge Drive. Note: This will impact the intersection of Woodside Road this week. At the beginning of the week, residents of Woodside Road should use Lime Kiln Lane for access. That access will switch to Blankenbaker Lane at some point during the week as our open trench moves past that intersection. Residents of Woodside Road should follow signage for current entry and exit access as it will shift as we cross that intersection.
Use Blankenbaker Lane to access these locations:
· Knights of Columbus
· Rivers Edge Road
· Waterglen Place
· Longview Lane
· Boxhill Lane
Use Lime Kiln Lane to access these locations:
· Virginia Chance School
· Rockledge Drive and all neighborhood streets between Rockledge and Lime Kiln Lane
Work in Zone 2 is expected to last approximately three to six months. The entire project will continue through this year and into 2026. Our goal is to finish most of the work on River Road by next summer.
