Note from Josie

Whether you call it a makeover, a facelift, or a glow up, District 10 is getting one. Camp Taylor Memorial Park, where our $6 million pool will open next summer, is getting some love. Yesterday workers from the Parks Department started dismantling the dilapidated fence.

Camp Taylor old fence removal

It will be replaced with boulders as boundaries--easier to maintain and better looking. Thanks to the mayor's administration, the park will also soon have a repaved basketball court with new goals and benches so people can actually play basketball. My office has also appropriated funds for new bleachers for the softball field, two water fountains with bottle fillers, and new exercise equipment. We are hopeful we can get it all in place in 2025.

Elsewhere in the district, we were able to secure in the budget $125,000 for a new playground in Klondike Park (if you know how neglected it is, you know), as well as $50,000 for right of way improvements to the Petersburg neighborhood for things like sidewalks and lighting. We're excited for our neighbors to start seeing and feeling these improvements soon. It's your input that let us know these were priorities, so be sure to tell us what should come next.

Fourth Camp Taylor Community Night

Councilwoman Raymond invites families and residents of District 10 to the fourth Camp Taylor Community Night tonight, July 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. in Camp Taylor Memorial Park, 4201 Lee Avenue.

Tonight's event will feature the Gamerz Truck, a mobile video game theatre with neon and laser lights, and an epic Nerf war in the park field. Additionally, the Louisville Zoo, Louisville Free Public Library, and Jefferson County Extension Nutrition will host tables with information and activities.

“Calling all gamer families and sports enthusiasts, this is your chance to take over Camp Taylor Park for an unforgettable experience,” said Councilwoman Raymond. “Please join me on Thursday in the park!”
