I wanted to send a reminder about this year's Cultural Pass which offers young people and their families free access to more than 50 venues through August 10. Participants receive free admission to one event hosted by each participating partner, which includes organizations/venues like the Speed Art Museum, the Louisville Nature Center, the Kentucky Derby Museum, the Muhammad Ali Center, and much more. An accompanying guardian of those under 18 years of age also receives free admission. Click here to download the app or for more information.
Each week, the Metro Office of Planning creates a report listing all new land use applications in Jefferson County. These can include requests for changes in zoning, conditional use permits, variances, landscape plans, and more. There is one case in this week's report involving property in District 17, a zoning verification request for property located at 10200 Isabel Drive. This sort of request is typically made to get information related to the zoning/form district of a site, prior zoning cases related to the property, etc. Please contact the case manager at franklin.walden@louisvilleky.gov with any questions.
It looks like we're headed towards some very warm temperatures over the next week or so (with many more to come, I imagine). What better time to remind everyone about Tom Sawyer State Park which has the largest outdoor public pool in town and a splash park to go along with it! If you haven't been before, I invite you to give it a try. For more information, call the park's recreation office at 429-7270.
Looking for some free mulch for use with your garden or around trees and shrubs? Louisville Parks and Recreation's Urban Forestry Division has got you covered with 'Mulch Mondays' through the end of summer. Jefferson County residents and non-profit organizations can pick up natural, dye-free mulch at 9200 Whipps Mill Road at no cost every Monday from 1-3 p.m. (except for national holidays). Appointments can be made here. Participants will need to show a Jefferson County ID and bring their own containers.
