Our vision is to be a forward-thinking, efficient, and trusted Codes & Regulations department that promotes safety, supports growth and fosters community trust.

Maintaining the Momentum
As we continue working toward a safer and stronger Louisville, we wanted to highlight some of the department's recent efforts. Director Richard Price recently sat down with the Courier Journal to discuss our proactive and strategic approach to addressing unsafe buildings across the city. This interview stemmed from an issue our team tackled at the Schiller Terrace apartments, where unsafe living conditions were identified.
No resident should have to endure unsafe or unhealthy living environments. We are dedicated to ensuring safe and livable conditions where individuals and families can flourish. By upholding our department’s vision, we continue to demonstrate to the community that we are here to support them, standing ready to address challenges efficiently and effectively while holding bad actors accountable.

Okta Multi-Factor Authentication
Starting July 1st, Okta Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will no longer support SMS/text messages and phone call options for MFA. It is necessary to transition from these outdated MFA methods to newer and more secure ones listed below. You do not need IT Support to complete the transition!
Secure options include the Okta Verify App and the Google Authenticator App, which are free to use on both work and personal devices. These phone authentication apps are considered reliable and effective MFA methods. Another secure option, although it incurs a cost, is the Yubikey USB Authenticator. Metro Technology Services will have a limited number of Yubikeys available for employees who do not have personal or work cell phones. Less secure options include third-party email accounts (such as Gmail) and security questions. These are considered legacy MFA methods and should be used only in exceptional cases.
A video tutorial on how to set it up on your phone and with your account is attached to this email. Please note, this tutorial is geared towards using Google Authenticator. Thank you to Information Systems Analyst Michaela Snyder for preparing this video tutorial!
