Louisville's da Mudcats have been the opening act for musical icons like Bo Diddley, Koko Taylor, James Cotton, Albert King, Marcia Ball, Buddy Guy and many more. They have been performing for over 35 years in some of the best concerts, festivals, and nightclubs traveling as far as California to perform at the Monterey Bay Blues Festival. The event is open to the public, family friendly, and free. Local vendors and food trucks will be on hand with a variety of food options, and people are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket to enjoy the show at Highview Park, sponsored by local council members.
The FDA is advising consumers and retailers not to eat, sell, or serve products distributed by Pan-African Food Distributors of Louisville, Kentucky. A May, 2025, FDA inspection of the firm’s distribution center in Louisville revealed the presence of an active rodent infestation and numerous rodent droppings on multiple product containers.
Kentucky has mandated the firm halt operations due to the absence of a required permit and has implemented a blanket quarantine of product. The state is urging the voluntary disposal of all contaminated food and will prohibit the business from reopening until the infestation is completely addressed. FDA has recommended Pan-African Food Distributors recall all products of concern currently on the market and the firm has agreed.
Consumers should check their homes for products described below and discard all products. Additionally, consumers should carefully clean and sanitize surfaces that could have come in contact with potentially contaminated products. Retailers and distributors that purchased or received products described below from Pan-African Food Distributors should not sell or serve potentially contaminated products and should clean and sanitize any surfaces or containers that could have come in contact with potentially contaminated products.

There are numerous summer programs available to local families to keep children active and engaged in summer learning with camps returning to select Louisville Parks and Recreation Community Centers June 9 – August 1. Camp will take place Monday through Friday from 8 am - 5 pm
To register a child, visit bestparksever.com. Camps are for children ages 5-12. The cost is a one-time registration fee of $20, plus $60 weekly. This price includes a t-shirt and one field trip per week. Campers will also enjoy creative programming, arts and crafts, athletics, swimming, and many other activities while socializing with their peers.
While summer break camps are taking place, the following community centers will host free open programming during the week from 11 am – 5 pm for children ages 6-12 - California, Parkhill, Portland, Shawnee, and South Louisville. The centers will have fun and interactive programs where campers are welcome to play sports, participate in crafts, or hang out in the center. These centers will have weekly field trips for $20 per trip. While open programming is free, registration is required at bestparksever.com.
Teen Vibe Camp featuring Love Notes is an evidence-based program that supports teens and young adults in developing skills and confidence to engage in respectful and healthy relationships. There sessions for both Middle School and High School Teens.
Love Notes is a national, evidence based, relationship based, youth and young adult curriculum that addresses healthy romantic relationship skills, communication skills, pregnancy, risky sexual behavior, consent, dating violence, sexual coercion, and many other topics. Additionally, Love Notes is trauma-informed and focuses on a young person’s aspiration, thereby building assets and strengthening protective factors which have been linked to positive outcomes.

For the 10th year in a row, KIPDA Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living, and the Louisville Metro Office for Aging and Disabled Citizens are teaming up to provide fans for older adults and persons with disabilities to help offer relief from the sweltering summer heat.
Working with community organizations, churches, businesses, private citizens, and the local media, we hope to generate monetary donations to purchase new fans. Persons or businesses interested in sponsoring fans will be able to make tangible or monetary donations to this effort until May 23rd.
The Fan Fair Event will be held at the Edison Center, 701 W. Ormsby Ave., Louisville KY 40203, on June 7th, from 9 am - 11 am. In conjunction with the fan distribution, there will be health & resource vendors and a prescription drug toss available for the community.
