New pool at Algonquin Park opens! 

Councilwoman Raymond and Councilwoman Tammy Hawkins, D-1, were all smiles at the new Algonquin Park Pool. Mind you, Councilwoman Raymond is still heartbroken that the Norton Pool at Camp Taylor Park is not opening until next season, but is glad Algonquin is open. This is the first new public pool to open in West Louisville since the previous Algonquin Pool was built in the 1960s, and it is a beauty, offering a range of exciting and inclusive features designed for all visitors.

Good news from the Louisville Jefferson County Environmental Trust

Councilwoman Raymond met with Kurt Mason from the Louisville Jefferson County Environmental Trust, celebrating them taking over four new easements along Beargrass Creek.  The Louisville and Jefferson County Environmental Trust protects land for future generations through voluntary cooperative programs. Created in 1997, the Trust helps to implement the goals of Louisville Metro's Comprehensive Plan, Plan 2040, that relate to parks and natural areas, greenways, historic sites and farmland.

June 2 - Louisville Tennis Center opens

Do you feel the clay courts calling you?  The Louisville Tennis Center opens June 2!  The Tennis Center, 3783 Illinois Avenue in Joe Creason Park, is open to the public and courts will be reserved based on availability through an online reservation system. The Tennis Center has an outdoor grill and picnic tables for tennis player use on a first come-first served basis. The Center’s clubhouse, which includes indoor restrooms, locker rooms, and gathering space is available for daily rental.

Know your rights if you are approached by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Information is available in ten languages. 

Keep reporting those potholes! 

PW crews will be popping up in their brightly colored safety vests to continue patching potholes. 1. Report online. An online map shows the current status of reports to Public Works.  2. Use X (Twitter) to send the location of the hole to @LouMetro311 and include the hashtag #502pothole. 3. Call Metro311 or 574-5000 to report potholes or any other issues.

June 7 - Wurstfest at the German-American Club

Join us and sample the different variety of Wursts!  Doors open at 2 p.m. A full German dinner will be served from 5 to 8 p.m., featuring several different Wursts (sausages) - there will be no schnitzel for this festival.  Entertainment provided by The Rhinegold Band, 2 to 6 p.m. and The Polkatz, 7 to 11 p.m. 1840 Lincoln Avenue.

June 13 - George Rogers Clark Park Band in the Park 

Presented by the George Rogers Clark Park Neighborhood Association and Councilwoman Josie Raymond, enjoy live music June 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. at 1024 Thruston Avenue. 

Louisville Nature Center 

Nocturnal Garden Observation (ADA accessible) June 8 and June 22, 8:30 to 10 p.m. $15.  As the heat of the summer day fades with the setting sun, a whole world comes alive in the cooler nights. From the loud, musical echoes of the Gray tree frogs to the hooting of owls, there is much to see and hear. Join our naturalist, Luke, for a night of observation in our sensory garden. This program is ADA accessible. The terrain is paved and flat. Participants will go on a leisurely stroll around the garden, remaining mostly seated to take in the sights and sounds.

Night Hike June 11, 8 to 10 p.m. $15. Owls, whippoorwills, bats OH MY! Join Luke on this guided hike to admire and identify sounds of the night. The sun will set approximately 9:06 p.m.

Louisville Paw Paw Festival The Third Annual Louisville Paw Paw Festival date has been set: Saturday, September 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Louisville Nature Center.  Join us for our third annual Pawpaw Festival! This free community event will feature guided hikes, engaging workshops, local vendors, music, tastings, and more family friendly fun. Stay tuned for more info!

Locate legal Short Term Rentals with Metro's interactive map

Short term rental enforcement continues in large part to be complaint-driven, based on public reporting of alleged violations to administrators. An interactive map tool contains all of the registered short term rentals in Louisville having an active permit to rent their property out to paying customers on STR websites like Airbnb.

If you believe someone is using a property as a short term rental but it does not show up on this registry, or if the registry indicates a non-owner occupied property does not have a CUP, then please report the issue here (select “Zoning and Business Concerns,” “Zoning Concern,” “Short Term Rental,” complete the form and submit).
