Algonquin Neighborhood Anti-Violence Coalition

The Algonquin AVC will meet on Tuesday, March 18 at 2 PM. The group will meet at the Villages of Park Duvalle Senior Building, located at 2900 Dr William G Weathers Drive.

Germantown-Paristown Neighborhood Association

GPNA has public meetings on the 3rd Monday of each month at 6:00 PM at the Hope Mills Building, located at 1000 Swan Street.

Limerick Neighborhood Association

Meetings on the third Wednesday of the every month at 7:00 PM Location: Noble Funk Brewery - 922. S. 2nd St. 

Meriwether-Fort Hill Neighborhood Association

Monthly Meetings held at The Bard's Town - 511 E Burnett Ave at 6:30 p.m. on the 2nd Wednesday

Old Louisville Neighborhood Council

OLNC meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 7pm. Location: the Historic Old Louisville Visitors Center (1340 S 4th Street)

Park Hill Neighborhood Anti-Violence Coalition

The Park Hill AVC will meet on Thursday, March 20 at 5:30 PM. The group will meet at the Bridges of Hope Neighborhood Place (1411 Algonquin Parkway).

Shelby Park Neighborhood Association

SPNA members meet most months on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. Location: Shelby Park Community Center (600 E. Oak Street)

Taylor Berry Neighborhood Association

Organizing Corner Vol. V: People Power

When I talk to people about the need to make big changes to make our city one that meets the needs of the many, one of the most common responses I get is skepticism. “Our city has failed to fund social services, parks, libraries, housing, and public transportation for decades. How are you going to change all that?”

The truth is, I can’t. We can.

We’re excited to create the District Advisory Council, and invest a lot of time and energy into it, because the real power for change doesn’t come from any individual, and it isn’t found inside of the walls at City Hall. The real power for change comes from people in our community. It comes from people like you, working with your neighbors and coworkers to address the problems right outside your front door, in your neighborhood, across our city and beyond.

It would be a lot easier to live in a world where our problems could be solved just by having correct ideas, or uplifting the right message on social media, or even just by voting for a message we believe in. It’s going to take a lot more than that. I am extremely grateful for the response we’ve received from people who want to work directly with our office on the advisory council, because getting anything done that matters takes strength in numbers. That’s what organizing is all about!

To build a Louisville for everyone, we have decades of racial and economic inequality to address. These problems we live with took a long time to get as bad as they are, and these aren’t problems we’re going to be able to solve overnight. It will take time, but together we can create and grow a movement of working-class people who not only want to live in a better world, but demand it and are ready and willing to fight for it. That’s how real change becomes possible.
