 🌎 Earth Fest is one month away! 🌎
The Mayor’s Office of Sustainability is excited to invite you to Earth Fest 2025, Louisville Metro Government's first community-wide Earth Month celebration event in close partnership with the Parks Alliance of Louisville and multiple community partners! The event, which will be attended by Mayor Greenberg, will feature food, music, performances, sustainability lightning talks, family friendly activities, volunteering opportunities, and a resource fair. It will serve as a kick-off to Earth Month (April) and will elevate and amplify environmental events led by various organizations throughout Earth Month, so that our community can learn more about and become engaged with the great local organizations leading efforts to protect Louisville’s environment and create a sustainable future!

 Louisville Metro Government, in partnership with the Kentucky Solar Energy Society (KYSES), published the Request For Proposal (RFP) for Solarize Louisville 2025 on February 10. Solarize Louisville helps residents, small businesses, nonprofits, and places of worship save energy costs by connecting them with trusted solar installers, negotiating wholesale discounted rates on solar installation, and providing an easy step-by-step process for going solar.
Installers can benefit from being part of a well-recognized campaign, reducing customer acquisition costs, and expanding the impact of clean energy in close partnership with the city. Solarize Louisville RFP submissions are due March 3. Learn more at SolarizeLouisville.com.
 The Office of Sustainability hosted an inaugural happy hour for the Louisville Green Business Leaders (LGBL) & Development Leaders (LGDL) cohorts, which have been convening to collaboratively advance sustainability goals leading to a safer, stronger, and healthier Louisville.
With the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability, the cohorts will explore the following themes:
- Policies and government processes that can enhance sustainability
- Incentives to support sustainability
- Educational and engagement opportunities for businesses, the development community, and their employees

 Louisville Metro Government (LMG) through the Office of Planning and in partnership with New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT)'s Technical Assistance to Brownfields Program is hosting a Tools for Financing a Brownfield Redevelopment Info Session. This event is free and open to the public.
The Tools for Financing a Brownfield Redevelopment Info Session event will be held on Thursday, March 13th from 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM at the Norton Healthcare Goodwill Opportunity Campus (2820 W Broadway, Louisville) in room 144.  Louisville Parks and Recreation is offering various opportunities for kids to stay active while on spring break. Camps will take place at some community centers, while others will host free open programming with a less structured environment.
Centers that will offer traditional Spring Break Camps are Metro Arts, Molly Leonard Portland, Sun Valley, Beechmont, Berrytown, Douglass and Cyril Allgeier. Participants must be 5-12 years of age for all camps except Metro Arts, which is for ages 9-12. The cost of Spring Break Camp is $60 per camper. Youths will enjoy a range of activities including athletics, games, crafts and a field trip. Spots are limited for these camps, you can register a child by visiting the spring break camp webpage.
Centers that will offer free open programming include California, Newburg, Parkhill, Shawnee, Southwick and South Louisville. The public is invited to come and go as they please as activities will be set up from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Examples of open programming includes arts and crafts, pickleball, basketball, computer games and more.  The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (APCD) has released its annual report, which provides an update on local air quality and highlights the work of Louisville’s local air pollution control professionals.

 Highland Park Bike Park Open House Reaches Capacity! Tuesday Feb 11th Mayor Greenberg held a press conference at the future site of the proposed Highland Park Bike Park to announce the city was in the process of finalizing the park’s design plans. The Highland Park Bike Park will mountain bike skills park located under the I-264 overpass at 4402 Old Park Blvd. This facility will be the first of its kind for Louisville and provide world-class asphalt pump tracks and jumps that local and regional riders alike can enjoy.
Louisville Metro Government in partnership with Pillar Design Studios, PumpTrax USA, and the Kentucky Mountain Bike Association (KyMBA) have been developing the final design plans over the past few months. The first draft of these plans was presented to the public at the open house at Beechmont Community Center on the evening of Feb. 11th. Due to overwhelming community support the open house had to be moved to the larger auditorium in the basement of the community center to accommodate the massive turnout. Beechmont Community Center’s auditorium was filled with over 100 attendees all eager to view the plans.

Work on Lexington/Liberty Bike Lanes Work began this week on the parking protected bike lane along Lexington Rd and Liberty St. Louisville Metro Public Works is replacing damaged and missing delineator posts along this stretch while also clearing out debris from the bike lane.
Extra Bike Lane Sweeping Begins! Bike Louisville has contracted extra bike lane sweeping along some of Louisville’s most problematic corridors. These 25 miles of bikes lanes prone to debris accumulation will now be swept twice a month rather than once a month.
Duck Duck Goose Bike Bus Rides Again! Duck Duck Goose bike bus will begin its rides to participating JCPS schools this March, providing students a safe, equitable, sustainable, and healthy way to get to and from school. Check out Duck Duck goose’s website and Instagram to learn more and find ways to get involved! The groups first ride will be March 6th to Lincoln Performing Arts School.
