 Happy Friday, everyone!
I’m excited to invite you all to our very first community meeting on March 26th at 6:00 PM at the Sun Valley Community Center. This will be a great chance to get acquainted, build friendships, and brainstorm about the future of District 14 together.
At this meeting, we will:
- Introduce the planning & zoning process
- Assist those interested in signing up for our weekly newsletter
- Discuss plans for a spring cleanup and recruit volunteers for the initiative
Looking forward to seeing you all there! Let's make this the start of something amazing for our community.

Being a good neighbor means being respectful, considerate, and friendly towards those living around you - including introducing yourself, maintaining your property, keeping noise levels down, offering assistance when needed, and generally being mindful of shared spaces and property lines. We should all strive to be good neighbors to one another. Here are a few tips you may find helpful:
-
Friendliness: Greet and get to know your neighbors.
-
Respectfulness: Be mindful of noise levels, especially late at night, and respect property boundaries.
-
Street Parking: Don't park your vehicle(s) on the road in a manner that blocks access to another's driveway or prevents safe and clear passage of emergency vehicles.
-
Property Maintenance: Keep your yard clean, maintain your property, and follow trash disposal guidelines.
-
Pets: Follow the city animal ordinances. Click HERE to learn more.
-
Offer Help: Be willing to assist neighbors with small tasks, like moving furniture or yard work, when needed.
-
Consideration for others: Be aware of potential disruptions like loud music or parties, loose pets, inoperable cars on property, unkempt areas.
-
Community involvement: Participate in neighborhood initiatives or events when possible. Get to know others in your community.
-
Be business wise: If you are running a business out of your home, please ensure you are in compliance with city regulations. Click HERE for general information. You can also call the Office of Planning (502) 574-6230 and/or Codes & Regulations (502) 574-2508 if you have questions.

 Meet Mike Mulrooney
Mike Mulrooney is a well-known name in Southwest Louisville. After losing his Mom, Shirley Mulrooney, to cancer in 2013 - Mike started Shirley’s Way to help support other families who had been impacted by a devastating cancer diagnosis and the overwhelming expenses that come with it - however, Mike didn’t stop there. Seeing the tremendous needs throughout the community, he has continued to expand the outreach and goals of Shirley’s Way - filling backpacks, feeding children in the community, supporting sports leagues, supporting homeless outreach, sponsoring community events, toy giveaways, and so much more! Mike and his incredible team have made an immeasurable positive impact on those who are often overlooked and underserved. Shirley's Way is an invaluable asset and blessing to our community.
Thanks for all you do, Mike! We see you.

Officer Travis Tracy, our LMPD 3rd Division Resource needs our help!
Below is the update from the Louisville Metro Police Foundation:
"Last night, Travis suffered a heart attack out of nowhere and was rushed into emergency surgery. At just 34 years old and in great shape, doctors told him this only happens to 1–2% of people worldwide. Officer Tracy has a heart for the community and works tirelessly in the 3rd Division as a district resource officer. He is passionate about serving others and building strong relationships between LMPD and the people they protect. He has a beautiful wife McKenna and a great dane puppy named Odin. Now, he needs our support. With the Tier 3 insurance providing minimal coverage, Travis and his young wife are facing overwhelming medical bills. On top of that, he is unable to work overtime to help make ends meet while he recovers. You can donate on this post, at our link https://www.zeffy.com/donation-form/officer-tracy-needs-our-help or on our venmo @LouisvilleMetro-PoliceFoundati Every dollar makes a difference. On 2/18/2025 the Solid Waste Enforcement team located a vehicle in District 14 that had been involved in illegal dumping of household furniture at a location on 3rd Street Rd (District 12). A citation was issued to the registered owner of the vehicle which included 750 dollars of fines and the impoundment of their vehicle. They can retrieve their vehicle out of impound in 72 hours after the fine and fees are paid. It’s important for residents hiring a waste hauler to ensure they are using a licensed hauler service. Failure to do so could result in citations and fines. Never pay unless you have a dump receipt or confirm the sticker on the truck to verify if a hauler is licensed, look for the sticker on the vehicle’s window or visit the Waste Management District website for a list of licensed haulers.
