Metro's Snow Team & Tomorrow's Weather

Metro’s Snow Team was deployed earlier this morning and began treating Metro’s 110 snow routes (2,700 two-lane miles), with a salt/calcium chloride mix. Calcium chloride is added to the salt when temperatures drop to 25 degrees or lower to ensure treatment efficacy during lower temperature.

They will continue working around the clock for the duration of the event to ensure all Metro’s snow routes remain in safe driving condition.

Remember:

  • Slow down, don’t rush – approach roads with caution, as they may be icy and slippery
  • Plan ahead – give yourself ample to time, by at least doubling the time it usually takes to get there during normal weather
  • Look out for snowplows and give our Snow Team room to work – Snowplows are big and bulky, and sudden maneuvers around them create additional hazards

 About Metro’s Snow Team:

Led by Metro Public Works, the Metro Snow Team is a multi-agency partnership within Metro Government, which includes Metro Parks, Codes & Regulations’ Vacant Lots Division, Fleet Services, and Public Works’ Road Operations, Signs & Markings and Solid Wasted Collection divisions.

Planning and Zoning Updates

9413 and 9417 Old Bardstown Road (Case 24-CUP-0270) was scheduled for the Board of Zoning Adjustment on Monday, February 17th, while this location's (Case 24-DDP-0084) is scheduled for the Development Review Committee on Wednesday, February 19th.  It is our understanding that this location is already zoned C1 and the proposed use is a medical clinic/surgery center.  For more information about the nature of this proposal and how to participate in the meeting or otherwise comment for the public record, contact Case Manager Molly Clark (molly.clark@louisvilleky.gov or 502-574-8656).

9300 & 9308 Old Bardstown Road, 10313 & 10311 R Thixton Lane, Parcel ID 066600250000 (Case 24-ZONE-0088) is scheduled for the Planning Commission on Thursday, February 20th.  This will review a change in zoning from R-4 mostly to R-5 Single Family Residential and a portion to PRD (Planned Residential Development). For more information about the nature of this proposal and how to participate in the meeting or otherwise comment for the public record, contact Case Manager Dante St. Germain (dante.st.germain@louisvilleky.gov).

9911 & 10019 Wingfield Road (Case 25-ZONEPA-0005) is scheduled for a Neighborhood Meeting at 6 PM on Tuesday, February 25th at the Fern Creek Community Center (6104 Bardstown Road).  For more information about the nature of this proposal and how to participate in the meeting or otherwise comment for the public record, contact Case Manager Molly Clark (molly.clark@louisvilleky.gov or 502-574-8656).

8803, 8805 and 8807 Old Bardstown Road (Case 24-ZONE-0105) is now scheduled for review and decision by the Planning Commission on Thursday, March 6th.  The discussion in the recent LD&T meeting indicated a change in the proposal.  The Goodwill store portion of the land continues to need C-1 zoning.  The additional 3 sites are now anticipated to be some sort of medical offices and thus the developer will be seeking OR-1 zoning (rather than C-1) for that portion of the land.  For more information about the nature of this proposal and how to participate in the meeting or otherwise comment for the public record, contact Case Manager Molly Clark (molly.clark@louisvilleky.gov or 502-574-8656).

8915 Old Bardstown Road (Case 24-ZONE-0113) and 11401 Race Road (Case 24-ZONE-0115) were both passed by the Planning Commission on Thursday, February 6th.  This completed the public record that will be the basis for Metro Council review and action in the following 30-90 days.
