A Message from Councilman Kevin Bratcher

It is an honor to serve you as your Metro Councilman.  Many of you know me from my years representing Fern Creek and the surrounding communities as your State Representative.  Now, I am excited to continue my service at the local level, working alongside you to make Fern Creek the very best place to live, work, and raise a family.

Fern Creek holds a special place in my heart.  As someone deeply connected to this community, I understand the issues that matter most to you – safe neighborhoods, thriving local businesses, strong schools, and a community we can all be proud to call home.  My focus is on fostering collaboration, transparency, and smart planning to ensure our area grows while preserving its unique charm and character.

Together, we can build on Fern Creek’s strengths and address the challenges we face with determination and vision.  I encourage you to share your thoughts, ideas and concerns with me.  Your voice is vital in shaping the future of our community, and I am committed to being accessible and accountable to you.

Thank you for the trust you have placed in me.  Let’s work together to make Fern Creek the shining example of what every community in Kentucky can aspire to be.

Sincerely,

Kevin D. Bratcher

Statement on Participation in Metro Council Planning and Zoning Proceedings

As a member of the Louisville Metro Council, my role is defined in the law to listen to the record and gain knowledge of all zoning issues being discussed in the Metro (including my district).  These cases ultimately come before the Metro Council and I will be one of the 26 members who make the final vote on the issue; therefore, during any stage of the process until the Planning Commission makes its decision, I am unable to provide public comments or express an opinion.  If I as a Councilmember, make any such prior engagement in the development of the record or any indication of a position, I could be disqualified from voting on the matter when it reaches the full Council.

I encourage all interested parties to actively participate in the process by sharing thoughts and concerns with the planning staff, either in person or through written communication.  You can make written comments by filling out this form (make sure you put in the Case Number):

If you have any questions about the planning and zoning process for a particular case, feel free to call my office at 502-574-1122.

Cedar Springs Shopping Center Entry Clean Up

Councilman Bratcher recently met with Robert Lush, the coordinator of Metro's Clean Collaborative Crew.  Mr. Lush followed up to let us know that, weather dependent, an Another Way crew of Goodwill is scheduled to collect the litter around the Cedar Springs Shopping Center on Thursday or whenever possible soon thereafter.  Thank you, Robert and the Goodwill "Another Way" crew!

Once this is done, let's keep the area litter-free!

A summary from Goodwill of January 2025 Another Way activities is as follows:

Per requests from Nicole George and others, participants spent the month clearing driveways and walkways for the elderly. Their efforts allowed seniors to attend doctor’s appointments, visit grocery stores, and take care of other essential needs. The elderly were incredibly grateful, and the participants found it deeply rewarding to give back to the community.

Even more exciting, 17 participants secured full-time jobs with companies such as Goodwill (2), UPS, Carlisle Chicken, PSC Industries, AutoCar Parts, Lee’s Chicken, Speedway, Adecco, Cardinal Aluminum, TechStyle, ESI/Meta (Electrician), Sterns Warehouse, Tenant Companies, YUM Center, The Healing Place, and Thornton’s.

This work is truly life-changing for everyone. Thank You!
