Winter Weather Update

As we prepare for the upcoming winter storm today expected to bring 2 to 5 inches of snow, I wanted to provide you with an update on our snow removal efforts and what you can expect in the coming days.

Road Clearing Efforts:

  • Metro Public Works crews are working continuously to plow and treat roads.
  • The city has 110 designated snow routes.
  • After the storm, we will reevaluate snow routes for better coverage.

Preparation for the Next Storm:

  • Salt domes are being replenished, and trucks begin laying down salt on Friday morning.
  • Additional plowing will take place throughout Friday and Saturday.

Metro Public Works Director Kern has announced that contractors are being brought in to assist with snow removal efforts today and throughout the weekend.

Metro Snow Crews are responsible to monitor, treat and/or plow 110 snow routes in the Metro area (2,734 two-lane miles).
