Despite my objections as well as those of area residents, Mayor Fischer has decided to recommend the approval of tax credits for a low income housing project to be constructed next to the ValuMarket on Outer Loop. Mayor Fischer’s decision reverses the long standing precedent of following the recommendation of the local Councilmember.
I have repeatedly expressed my objections to this project, and regret that the administration has chosen to ignore the concerns of area residents. If this housing project is considered acceptable for Highview, I continue to wonder why projects of this nature are not built in areas of our community such as the Highlands.
