Donations Needed for Youth In Action Blanket Drive
The Youth In Action Network of Louisville invites you to contribute blankets for their Annual Blanket Drive aimed at helping the homeless, veterans, and those in need within our communities.
As we celebrate the holiday season, many remember to provide meals for the less fortunate, but many still lack warmth. Please share this request with your church members, sororities, fraternities, friends, and family. Our homeless and veteran population has surged by over 1,000 in the past year. Many individuals in need are relocating from rural areas to our communities due to a lack of support there. Tragically, many of these homeless individuals are children who have no control over their circumstances, and it is heart-wrenching to witness their struggles.
While you are out doing your holiday shopping, consider picking up a throw or blanket. Please note that we will have two collection and distribution events: the first collection will be on December 14, 2024, for Christmas, and the second will be on January 18, 2025, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. Thank you in advance for your generous support.
 Christmas Care Day
This Christmas the Care Project and Feed Louisville are collaborating on a Christmas Care Day.
On Christmas Day at Feed Louisville (1334 Story Ave, Louisville, KY 40206) volunteers will be prepping and distributing meals and hygiene packages to people experiencing homelessness in Louisville.
Until Christmas Day the Care Project will be collecting donations for the hygiene packages at the various locations listed on the flyer!
Louisville Metro launching Affordable Housing Lien Forgiveness Pilot Program
Program aims to create more housing opportunities by eliminating financial barrier
Recently, Mayor Craig Greenberg announced the launch of an important program that will help create safe, quality, affordable housing, while improving the safety and health of neighborhoods.
The goal for this program is to create newly renovated, affordable homes and support the redevelopment of vacant and blighted residential structures through the forgiveness of code enforcement liens. The intention of this pilot program is to increase housing stock by rehabilitating vacant and abandoned structures, promote homeownership for low-to-moderate income families, while encouraging reinvestment in local neighborhoods. This pilot program also includes important guard rails to ensure that residents are protected and empowered to build stronger futures in the neighborhoods they love and call home.
