You're Invited to Kentucky's Veterans Day Parade!
Join us for the Kentucky Veterans Parade and Celebration, an annual event dedicated to honoring and thanking our veterans. The festivities kick off with a traveling parade, Operation Rendezvous, which will bring convoys from north, south, east and west to converge in downtown Louisville. From there, the traditional parade steps off at noon, proceeding east on Jefferson Street from 7th to 4th Street. After the parade, enjoy the static display along 6th Street, where you can meet veterans and view historic military vehicles. This year’s parade will be led by Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, Don Ballard, representing the Armed Forces Medic Corps.

Bring a Can, Save on Admission: Wild Winter Days Returns to Louisville Zoo
Join the Louisville Zoo and Kroger in supporting Dare to Care Food Bank
and local conservation efforts this winter
The Louisville Zoo invites guests to celebrate Wild Winter Days, presented by Kroger, Nov. 1, 2024 through Feb. 28, 2025. Wild Winter Days offers discounted admission to the Zoo and incorporates a food drive for Dare to Care Food Bank.
Guests who bring at least one non-perishable food item per person may purchase discounted tickets at the Zoo ticket windows for $10.50 per adult and $7.50 per child or senior. Twenty-five cents of every admission ticket will also support the Zoo’s conservation efforts.
Since this partnership began in 2009, the Zoo has collected more than 30,000 pounds of food, thanks to the generosity of its guests. That is the weight of nearly five male rhinoceroses!
Dare to Care Food Bank’s most needed items include canned meats like tuna and chicken, as well as canned fruit and vegetables, beans, peanut butter, soup, rice, cereal, fruit juice, and pasta. No glass containers. More details on items of need are available at daretocare.org.
The discount is available only at the gate and cannot be applied to online purchases, special fee-based programs, prepaid groups, field trips or other discounts. No refunds will be provided for tickets purchased online or in advance. While multiple canned good items per person are appreciated, only one discount applies per ticket.
Zoo Hours
The Zoo is open daily year-round. Now through March 14, 2025, hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with guests exiting by 5 p.m. The Zoo is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Visit louisvillezoo.org for more information.

 Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit Workshop
On tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024, representatives from the Kentucky Heritage Council, State of KY will conduct a public hearing on the newly ruled National Historic District for all of Beechmont-Southern Heights neighborhoods.
These residents have received their notifications of this via USPS. There are some potential tax credits for homeowners of homes in historical neighborhoods. This meeting serves to explain that process.

 Office for Women (OFW) Ambassadors 2025 Applications Open
Applications are open for the Class of 2025 Office for Women (OFW) Ambassadors!
The OFW Ambassadors is a six-month training program for women and gender diverse individuals who represent the diverse communities across Metro Louisville. Through the program, participants will develop and hone their leadership skills, learn about issues impacting women, and explore government and community programs available to women.
The OFW Ambassadors will serve as community liaisons, sharing out information about vital community services and communicating back to government about the needs of women in their communities.
Eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to and advocacy for improving the lives of women and/or girls and advancing gender equity.
- Applicants must be 18 or older.
- Applicants must live in one of the 26 Metro Council districts in Jefferson County (inside Jefferson County).
- Applicants must commit to attending all training sessions. The training dates for 2025 are:
- January 16
- February 20
- March 20
- April 17
- May 15
- June 19
Training will take place from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.
YOU MUST COMMIT TO ATTEND ALL TRAINING DATES.
The training program is free, and food and transportation costs (bus tickets or parking) will be provided. Childcare will also be provided off site.

If you have complaints about airport noise, please call Noise Office at 502-363-8516 and follow the below prompts to track flights:
Go to the airport's website www.flylouisville.com. At the top of the page, click on CORPORATE tab. Under the heading LRAA, click on the tab for NOISE COMPATIBILITY PROGRAM. Near the bottom of the page, look for Flight Tracking and click the button for NEAR-LIVE FLIGHT TRACKS DISPLAY. Click the Flight Tracking heading at the top of the page. Click the Accept button to accept the terms and conditions and you can begin viewing flights.
 Recycling Do's and Don'ts
We are asking for your help to ensure that we are correctly setting out our recycling carts in our district. Follow these tips to ensure that your recycling gets picked up time!
Do:
- Make sure the lid is closed flat
- Break the boxes down flat to maximize space
Don't:
- Set boxes beside the cart
- Leave lid open or overflow the cart

We need your help reporting potholes, use one of the methods below;
Use the Louisville Metro online form by clicking here. Use Twitter by sending the location of the hole to @LouMetro311 and include the hashtag #502pothole. Call Metro311 or 574-5000 to report potholes or any other issues. Call our office at 574-1121, and we'll turn it in on your behalf.
