Mayor Greenberg Releases Louisville's Sundance Proposal
Mayor Greenberg released the following statement about Louisville's Sundance proposal:
“I am incredibly proud of our proposal that resulted in Louisville being a finalist to be the new home of the Sundance Film Festival. Our team saw an opportunity for an unprecedented economic development driver for our city and state. The proposal we put together was a true partnership, including the Governor, State Legislature, Metro Council, private and non-profit sectors. This is the type of teamwork and innovative thinking we need to continue the positive momentum we have going on right now in Louisville.”

- Please note these documents were presented to Sundance in June 2024.
View the updated financial proposal here (link to PDF)
- Please note the proposal was based upon a combination of factors, including the economic impact study, which projected a positive revenue impact for the city and state from hosting the Sundance Film Festival and the value of hosting the internationally acclaimed and recognized event in Louisville. The offer was preliminary and like all state incentives was to require performance-based metrics to assure the state received a return on investment. The offer required Sundance to provide certain materials including budgets, which when accounting for incremental tax revenues from the event annually, would have formed the final incentive package.

Land Development Code Reform
The Land Development Code (LDC) is a set of rules and laws that defines how land can be used, how a development such as a new shopping mall or apartment must be designed, and the procedures for approval. The LDC Reform is an equity focused approach to revise the LDC consistently with Plan 2040 to allow for increased housing choices and opportunities in new and existing neighborhoods, to create procedures and regulations that are easier to use, and increase the quality of life by reducing the concentration of environmental hazards near housing.
Work to reform the LDC began in the summer of 2020. Initial recommendations, including accessory dwelling units, notification procedures, and urban agriculture were all adopted within the first year. The work continues and we encourage you to participate!
