Metro Council Meeting 9/19/24

Metro Council met last night and adopted several ordinances, most relating to board appointments, neighborhood development funds, and zoning of properties. If you are interested in these ordinances, please check out the public portal, or reach out to our office. The council also approved the Urban Government Center Tax Increment Financing District. We know several residents in this neighborhood expressed significant issues with the plan and process, so Councilwoman Parrish-Wright listened and voted NO on this item.

District 3 Logo Poll

We are so excited to present three options for a District 3 logo. This will appear on D3 apparel and other items so we can uplift all our neighborhoods. Please respond to this email with the link on the left to let us know which one is your favorite. Please see the photos below.

Schardein Cemetery

Our office has been working with the County Attorney to determine the best course of action to maintain Schardein Cemetery. Essentially, the courts determined there are only four organizations permitted to enter and maintain this cemetery. We have reached out to one of those organizations and are in talks to see if we can work out a maintenance agreement.

Fence on Manslick Road

Another project we've been focused on is the Fence along Manslick Road, just past Berry Boulevard. Our office, Public Works, and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet have been in communication to determine the best path forward to remove the damaged parts of the fence and replace them. We are still awaiting a final decision from Public Works and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

GG Moore Park

The Parks Alliance has identified GG Moore Park on M Street as a priority park for potential redevelopment. Our first step is to gather community input and set a kickoff meeting to determine the best path forward for this park. If you live in Taylor-Berry, or close to the park or the South Louisville Community Center, please let us know if you want to be involved in this park redevelopment process.

Legislation Filed: Wrongful Conviction Day

Councilwoman Parrish-Wright filed a resolution to recognize international wrongful conviction day, and to urge the state to pass legislation to provide compensation to those who've been wrongfully convicted and incarcerated. There are 22 Kentuckians and 7 Louisvillians who have been exonerated. The full text of the resolution can be read here
