Council Updates

We hope everyone with kids enrolled in JCPS had a great first day back to school. Councilwoman Parrish-Wright's two sons, and older grandchildren had great first days back at school.

This week, Metro Council met and adopted several ordinances, several pertaining to the allocation of Neighborhood Development Funds.

We are still seeking survey feedback for YOUR legislative priorities. If you haven't already, please complete the survey when you have a chance. The survey can be found HERE!

As always, If you see problems in your neighborhood, like speeding, abandoned properties, or overgrown grass, please report them to our office or to 3-1-1.

Legislative & Neighborhood Priorities

D3 is still seeking resident feedback regarding legislative priorities. If you have not already, please consider taking our survey!

From our surveys so far, some of the top concerns we are seeing include: speeding, neighborhood upkeep, and access to a grocery store.

In conjunction with the surveys, we are also planning to start having open office hours, if you'd like to drop by and talk about Louisville Metro Council and what it can actually do. Our first day for office hours will be August 24th, at Shively City Hall from 9am-12pm. Drop in for coffee, a chat, and to talk about some of your neighborhood concerns.

Neighborhood & Park Cleanups

The District 3 Team has scheduled TWO community clean-ups in our neighborhoods. The first will be an evening litter walk, on September 10th from 5-7pm at Watterson Lake Park.

The second will be on September 21st from 9am-12pm at William Harrison Park.

Waterfront Park Update

The District 3 Office received this notice from the Waterfront Park West Expansion Team:

"Waterfront Park Phase IV is the 22-acre westward expansion of the park between 10th and 14th streets along the river.  Once completed, this $50 million project will transform a long-neglected area of our waterfront into a vibrant community amenity and bring Waterfront Park’s world class amenities within a 20-minute walk of more than 10,000 residents.  Phase IV is a vital component of Waterfront Park’s mission to transform our waterfront into an accessible community asset that can be enjoyed by the community forever.

Construction is underway on PlayPort at Waterfront Park, a children’s area designed in partnership with Kentucky Science Center.  PlayPort will feature large-scale authentic objects – including an excavator, dump truck, boats, river-themed elements, and more – as anchors for an inspired play and learning environment.  Construction of PlayPort is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

To learn more about Waterfront Park Phase IV and share your thoughts, visit https://ourwaterfrontparkexpansion.org."
