An Air Quality Alert has been issued for Monday, August 5th and Tuesday, August 6th. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy for sensitive groups due to ozone pollution.
Sensitive groups to ozone pollution include children, older adults, those with asthma, COPD, and other breathing ailments, and any other residents that are active outdoors. Ozone pollution generally builds up throughout the day due to warm, sunny, and stagnant conditions and impacts air quality most in the afternoon and early evening.
Sensitive groups should reduce prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion, take more breaks, and do less intense activities, particularly later in the day. The rest of the public is not likely to be affected, but all should know where to find live air quality information and be aware of symptoms like coughing, shortness of breath, or other respiratory issues.
Follow live air quality conditions 24/7 at Louisville Air Watch (louisvilleky.gov/air).
