Improving quality of life; new sidewalk project!

map showing sidewalk addition at Newburg Road

We are happy to share that Metro Public Works will start construction of the Newburg Road New Sidewalk project July 8! The project will continue the sidewalk along the southwest side of Newburg Road from Larkmoor Lane to the Metro Animal Services Entrance (for a total 2,750 feet).

This is a federally funded sidewalk project that will provide much-needed pedestrian connectivity in the area.

Louisville Metro, Metro Council District 10 and the City of Watterson Park have contributed funding to the design and construction of the project.

One southbound lane will be closed for the duration of the project, which is to conclude by September 21. Flynn Brothers is the contractor installing the new sidewalk, and Public Works Inspectors will oversee quality assurance.

This project has been a long time coming, and we thank Steve Kurowsky, Engineer Supervisor with PW, for his persistence and diligence in getting this project to the construction phase.
