In the spirit of National Hamburger Month, we took to the iconic White Castle on National Turnpike for a day filled with fun, food, and fantastic company. The aroma of sizzling patties wafted through the air as we joined in the festivities, embracing the joyous occasion with gusto.
Our day began with a warm welcome from the ever-smiling April and her dedicated team. Their infectious enthusiasm set the tone for the day, making us feel right at home. The staff’s commitment to providing top-notch service was evident in their every action, from the way they handled the bustling crowd to their meticulous attention to detail in preparing each order.
But the day was not just about enjoying the delicious sliders that White Castle is famous for. We also had the unique opportunity to step behind the counter and experience the thrill of flipping burgers ourselves! Under the watchful guidance of the experienced staff, we learned the art of crafting the famous WC slider. The sizzle of the grill and the assembly of the ingredients were all part of this immersive experience.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the camaraderie we shared with the staff. Cheering them on during the busy lunch rush, we felt a part of the White Castle family. Their teamwork and dedication were truly inspiring, reminding us of the hard work that goes into every bite of the mouth-watering burgers we love.
As we wrapped up our visit, we were left with not just satisfied appetites but also cherished memories. A big thank you to April and the rest of the White Castle staff for their incredible hospitality and for making our National Hamburger Month celebration a truly memorable one.
We recently had the pleasure of celebrating a fantastic Carnival Day with the Prairie Village Babe Ruth Baseball/Softball League. The day was filled with fun, games, and an overwhelming sense of community spirit that left us in awe.
The carnival was a testament to the league’s commitment to providing a safe, competitive, and educational environment for our youth. The atmosphere was electric, with children and adults alike reveling in the festivities. The joy on the faces of the young players as they participated in the games was a sight to behold.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the league for organizing such an incredible event. The dedication and hard work of the players, coaches, parents, and volunteers did not go unnoticed. Their commitment and sportsmanship were truly commendable, adding to the success of the event.

New Life Directions Ministries is making a significant impact in the lives of single mothers and their children. Their Two Generation Approach has successfully served 150 single families annually, providing stable housing and comprehensive support services.
The latest endeavor involves the construction of 20 permanent supportive housing units for homeless single mothers and their children. We’re pleased to report that construction is well underway and progressing smoothly. These units will provide more than just shelter; they will offer a comprehensive support system, including 24/7 case management services, eviction prevention education, and job training.
In addition, the project includes an on-site Child Development Center, providing trauma-informed care for formerly homeless children. This initiative not only supports the mothers in their journey towards financial stability but also ensures their children receive high-quality early childhood education. This project is a testament to New Life Directions Ministries’ commitment to uplifting single mothers and their children out of poverty.
Metro Council worked closely with local State Legislator to secure $2.5 million in funding for Jefferson Memorial Forest from the Kentucky General Assembly. This funding will support key projects, including the ongoing construction at the Tom Wallace Recreation Area and the installation of a new Louisville Loop trailhead and path inside the forest.
This investment will enrich visitor experiences and help plan for the forest’s long-term future. I’m grateful for your support and look forward to seeing these projects come to life.
Earlier this month, a tragic shooting occurred in our district. A senseless act of violence that left two people dead and two injured. I acted immediately upon hearing the news to take action to suspend the business's alcohol license under a recently passed an ordinance that allows for an immediate suspension of a business’s alcohol license following a shooting or violent incident.

NPSI is the country’s premier secondary school competition focused on restaurant management and culinary arts. Annually, more than 400 student competitors put their skills to the test in front of industry leaders, NRAEF Trustees, state restaurant associations, and family and friends – all with hopes of earning coveted scholarships from the nation’s best culinary and restaurant management programs.
