If you believe the assessed value is not correct, The Jefferson County PVA wants you to know: You have a right to appeal.
The mission of the PVA is to provide fair and equitable assessments for all property owners in Jefferson County. PVA staff works hard to get the value of our property correct. However, the PVA does not know every detail or condition of your property. If you believe the PVA assessed value does not represent the fair-market value of your property, you have a right to appeal your assessment.
To learn more about property assessments and how to file an appeal, attend one of the PVA’s upcoming community meetings:
April 9: Douglass Community Center (2305 Douglas Blvd) 6:30pm-8pm
April 11: St. Matthews Community Center (1901 Park Road) 6:30pm-8pm
April 16: The Jeffersonian (10617 Taylorsville Road) 6:30pm-8pm
April 18: United Crescent Hill Community Ministries (150 State Street) 6:30pm-8pm

2024 PGA Championship
When: Monday, May 13 - Sunday, May 19, 2024
Where: Valhalla Golf Club
15503 Shelbyville Road
Traffic Overview:
Exciting times are ahead as Louisville gears up for the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club! As your local community resource, we want to ensure residents are well-informed and prepared for any potential traffic impacts during this event.
- Starting the week of April 29, motorists will see signage being installed along Shelbyville Road (U.S. 60) alerting residents of increased traffic. Motorists can expect a continual increase in traffic through May 12 as preparations for the tournament begin.
- Beginning Monday, May 13, Shelbyville Road will have lane restrictions and speed limit reductions from I-265 to Eastwood Cutoff Road. These temporary lane restrictions and speed limit reductions will remain in place through Sunday, May 19.
While these changes may cause some inconvenience, rest assured the priority is your safety. We advise exploring alternate routes to avoid delays. However, if you must use Shelbyville Road, please stay vigilant for temporary signage, traffic changes, and anticipate delays. LMPD and KYTC have been working diligently to make changes in anticipation of increased traffic on Shelbyville Road.
There will be no public parking, drop-offs, or walk-ins at or around Valhalla Golf Club. Residents and guests will not be allowed to walk from their homes to the PGA Championship.
For further updates and information regarding the 2024 PGA Championship, please visit www.pgachampionship.com.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 25, 2024) – As Louisville gears up for 150th running of the Kentucky Derby, the Louisville Free Public Library is busy laying the finishing touches on the 11th annual How-To Festival. Taking place on the second Saturday in May, the Library’s How-To Festival has become an annual tradition for thousands of Louisvillians looking for something entertaining, interactive, and educational to do after Derby is over. The How-To Festival offers attendees the chance to learn how-to-do more than 50 different things in five hours, all for free!
Want to learn how to grow bananas? Make delicious gluten-free cookies? Keep bees in your backyard? Play the violin? These are just a sampling of the free, interactive learning experiences offered by local experts and small businesses at the How-To Festival. “How-to” sessions last approximately 45 minutes and cover a range of activities—from business to fitness to gardening.
This year’s festival is a mix of past favorites—how to practice self-defense, grow delicious tomatoes, or do basic car maintenance—along with new lessons, such as how to weave a rug, create cheesecake in a jar, and break up with your smart phone. Kid-friendly activities include how to paint with diamonds, make shadow puppets, or create a friendship bracelet. And thanks to the ongoing partnership with the Louisville Urban Agriculture Coalition, How-To will feature twenty gardening sessions presented by Urban Ag member groups, including how to raise urban livestock, identify poisonous plants, grow mushrooms, and more.
The How-To Festival takes place on Saturday, May 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Main Library, 301 York Street. Sessions will be located in more than twenty areas throughout the building and surrounding grounds, transforming the entire library into a giant classroom. Food trucks will be available.
For more information, including the tentative schedule of how-to sessions, visit LFPL.org/how-to.

Drivers should use caution in work zones
A lane closure will be in place on I-265 South on Saturday, April 27. The work is part of the I-Move Kentucky project. Beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday, the left lane of I-265 South approaching the exit to I-64 West (Exit 25B) will be closed. The closure will last until 10:00 a.m. This will allow a traffic shift to the new bridge north of I-64. Work may be adjusted due to weather or other unforeseen events. Drivers should use caution when traveling through active work zones. Signage will be in place to alert drivers of active construction zones and closures.

Drowning is a local and national crisis; it’s the leading cause of death for children ages 1–4 and the second for those ages 5–14, with 4,000 fatal incidents annually in the U.S. alone–a staggering 11 drowning deaths per day. A number of socioeconomic, geographic and racial factors only worsen the statistics.
