30th Frankfort Avenue Easter Parade

39th Frankfort Avenue Easter Parade

Saturday, March 30th at 11:30am

Louisville’s only Easter Parade returns to The Avenue! This spring, the Frankfort Avenue Easter Parade hits a milestone in celebrating 30 years of unique family fun in the Crescent Hill and Clifton neighborhoods. So grab your bunny ears and hop on over to The Avenue for this family-friendly, candy-filled, free event. This year’s Parade Grand Marshall, Mark Gaff, will kick things off around 11:30 a.m. in front of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 2822 Frankfort Ave. Hundreds will travel down the historic thoroughfare to the parade end at the corner of Frankfort Ave. and Pope St.

Join us for Louisville’s most unique, colorful, fun-filled kangaroo hopping, little car driving, men sitting on a 20-foot long camel, and Easter/Spring candy throwing event in the city. The day will be full of color, candy, and character, with homemade floats, dance groups, antique cars, and trucks. Parade entries range from the Shriners, Hwang’s Martial Arts, the Mounted Sheriff’s Posse, “Ethan Almighty,” Mexico Lindo, local Churches, The West Market Brass Band, Professional Mermaids, and many more…and don’t forget, our most esteemed guest the Easter Bunny! But wait, there is more…You, too, can join in the parade fun! Grab your family and friends, dress up the family dog, be a part of a kazoo band or any band, and decorate your Radio Flyer Wagon, your big wheel, or your car…it is up to you to show us your creative side. To kick the fun up a notch, judges will be on hand to decide who claims the “Good Ears” awards for the most creative floats and parade participants.

The Frankfort Avenue Easter Parade has been a unique part of what makes our vibrant community so great to be a part of these past 30 years. Whitehall to Offer Terrarium Workshop

Whitehall to Offer Terrarium Workshop

Louisville, KY. – Whitehall is pleased to announce its first Whitehall Wednesday program for 2024. On Wednesday, March 27, Carolyn Minutillo of Lavender Hill Florals will lead an Open Terrarium workshop. Students will create their own miniature eco-system, and learn how to add some ‘living décor’ to their homes. Terraria are generally self-sustaining and need very little care; students only need to bring a creative mind and a desire for a dash of green to their living space. Space is limited and reservations are required. The cost is $75 per person and includes all necessary materials. The program will be held from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Students may register for the program at https://www.historicwhitehall.org/whitehall-wednesdays.

Proceeds from the program will benefit Whitehall, a historic house and estate garden owned and operated by the not-for-profit Historic Homes Foundation.  Originally built in the mid-1850s as an Italianate farmhouse, the house was transformed in 1909 into the iconic Classical style mansion we know today that epitomizes the stately beauty of early twentieth-century architecture.  At just under ten acres, Whitehall’s grounds offer the public multiple special gardens that are a horticultural treasure to the community.

Carolyn Minutillo AIFD EMC PFCI, is the Owner and Principal Designer at Lavender Hill, a Floral and Lifestyle Shop in Jeffersonville, IN. She is a Certified Floral Designer, Floral Judge and Evaluator with the American Institute of Floral Designers. Carolyn has her European Masters Certification from Brugge, Belgium, is a floral industry public speaker, and is also a Floral Business Coach and Educator.

Notice of Application for Wrecking of Historic Structure

The Office of Planning and Design Services has received a variance application on which a historic structure is proposed for demolition on the property listed below:

Subject Property: 1318 Lexington Rd.

Case Number: 24-VARIANCE-0023

The above reference property is currently being listed in the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Irish Hill Historic District.

LMCO (150.110) requires a notice of the proposed demolition be sent simultaneously with the notice for the public hearing of the variance request because it requires a public hearing. This dual notice commences the required 30-day hold on the property now as opposed to at the time of application for a wrecking permit. The purpose of the 30-day hold is to provide time for the community to consider the demolition and, if warranted, prepare a petition to review the designation of the building as a local landmark. This hold will expire after 4/5/2024. Once this hold has expired, a wrecking permit may be issued if the variance plan showing its removal is approved and construction permits are ready to be issued.

For additional information regarding this application visit the website:
