Help for making decisions about health insurance
 Join the Asclepius Initiative for an informative session on navigating the complex world of health care coverage. No matter what kind of coverage, this session will equip you with the knowledge to help yourself and others make informed decisions about health insurance.

Learn the ins and outs of obtaining and using health care coverage, from understanding the various options available, including flexible spending accounts, (FSA), health reimbursement accounts (HRA), and health spending accounts (HSAs), to deciphering medical bills and identifying potential errors. Discover how to maximize the benefits of plans while minimizing out-of-pocket expenses.
The sessions will highlight:
- The different types of health care coverage available.
- What to consider when getting health care coverage.
- Understanding important insurance documents.
- How to use those documents to check for accuracy in medical bills.
- How FSAs, HRAs, and HSAs work with coverage and how they can save money.
- How to compare plans to find the best coverage that meets needs.

Mayor Greenberg's State of the City
Earlier this month, Mayor Craig Greenberg provided his State of the City address at the Summit Wellness Center in Louisville. From public safety to the economy, parks, housing, downtown revitalization and more, the mayor shared an ambitious and bold agenda to make Louisville safer, stronger, and healthier for everyone in this city we all love. Vaccine poster and media contest invites students to tap into creative skills
 Calling all budding artists! Any public or private school student from kindergarten through 12th grade is invited to illustrate the importance of routine childhood vaccines by designing a poster, brochure or short video.
Regional and state winners will be announced at the KHSAA Boys Basketball Tournament in March.
The $500 prize is sponsored by the Kentucky Association of Health Care Plans (KAHP) and will be awarded to one state elementary, middle and high school student.
Please email LouMetroHealth@louisvilleky.gov and include your name, school, grade, and phone number with the submission. Entries will be accepted until Feb. 23.

Free virtual program provides youth Mental Health First Aid training
 You’re invited to participate in a free virtual youth Mental Health First Aid training session at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21. The program is for adults who live and/or work with youth ages 6-18. A certificate will be given upon completion.
Pace Cooke Emmons, a certified instructor for both adult Mental Health First Aid USA and youth Mental Health First Aid USA, will give an overview of the public education program designed for non-mental health professional to learn the signs that a child or adolescent is developing a mental health or substance use challenge or is in a crisis. Participants will also learn how to use the five-step ALGEE action plan (Approach, Listen, Give, Encourage, Encourage) to provide help.
