During last night’s Metro Council meeting, I was honored to give a special recognition to the Louisville Cricket Club in celebration of their tenth anniversary in Louisville. It is thrilling to watch as this organization continues to flourish and promote cricket in our region.

A bit of history on the Louisville Cricket Club (LCC):
- In 2013, the LCC was formed by 15 members and over 10 years it has grown to over 90 members in strength.
- The club now has members from 9 different nations including the United States, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Caribbean Islands, Bangladesh and many more.
- Cricket’s legacy in Louisville began in 1960 at Seneca Park. Since 1960 cricket has called many local parks home including Louisville Water Tower Park, Dres Pres Park, Cox’s Park.
- In 2017, in partnership with Louisville Metro Parks, LCC moved to a dedicated cricket field at Hayes Kennedy Park in District 16.
- The LCC has been very successful, winning the 2016 Mayors Cup, 2021 Cincinnati T10 Tournament, 2022 MCT Southwest Division 1 T20 Championship and the 2023 Midwest Cricket 35 over Division 1 Champions.

As you start wrapping gifts this season, be creative! Use newspaper, old maps, paper bags, or even fabric and dish towels! Or give your gift in a reusable shopping bag! There are lots of ways to reduce waste!
If you just can't get them to work, recycle them with your old electronics. Never put holiday lights with household recycling because they will get tangled up and cause problems at the recycling sorting facility. Louisvilleky.gov/Electronics
