During the holidays many of us enjoy the hustle and bustle of the shopping and the excitement the season brings. Unfortunately, there are many children in our community who would not receive gifts. Every December, the Louisville Metro Police Foundation partners with LMPD to host the “Shop with a Cop” program. This makes a huge difference in the lives of many children across our community.
The eight police divisions of LMPD invite dozens of children in need to a holiday party like no other, providing each child with winter clothes and toys. For many, these gifts will be the only ones they receive.
To help fund this crucial endeavor, we’re asking for your financial support. Help us help the less fortunate children in our city, and together we can make a safer, happier Louisville.

The dashboard is a real-time, comprehensive reporting tool that will expand government transparency and will aim to create more collaborative work opportunities with and within the Louisville community.
The dashboard is a collaborative project between OSHN and the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) and was funded with a $100,000 competitive grant from the national Everytown for Safety Support Fund. The dashboard will use data from Mark 43, LMPD’s record management system and will show a variety of reporting elements. For example, it will show maps and trends on where shots are fired, where homicides and non-fatal shootings happen, literal neighborhood and block reports, and historic, comparative, and detailed data starting from the year 2010.
It will give anonymized information on victims of gun violence, trend reports and provides an array of measurements, including, for example, what is shown as the likeliest or most common times and/or days for violence.

Long-term split of southbound lanes to replace northbound split
Work on Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) will require a long-term split of the southbound lanes starting this weekend, as part of the I-Move Kentucky project.
The long-term split of the southbound lanes will replace the current northbound traffic split that has been in place for the past year between I-64 and U.S. 60/Shelbyville Road. Lane and ramp closures will be in place this weekend to allow crews to implement the split.
Saturday, Dec. 2
From 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, the following ramps will be closed: • Ramp from I-64 West to I-265 North (Exit 19B) • Ramp from I-64 East to I-265 North (Exit 19B)
There will be no access to I-265 North from I-64 East or West during this period.
From 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, drivers on I-265 North will be moved to the far-left express lane. Drivers on I-265 North will not be able to exit to I-64 (Exit 25) or Shelbyville Road (Exit 27) during this time.
Sunday, Dec. 3
From 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, the ramp from I-64 West to I-265 South (Exit 19A) will be closed to complete the traffic split.
Long-Term Traffic Split
During the long-term split, left-lane traffic on I-265 South will be moved across the median to utilize current northbound lanes, and barrier walls will be in place to separate northbound and southbound traffic.
This will be a long-term split to replace asphalt with concrete on a high traffic area of I-265 South. It will not reduce capacity for regular traffic, but a width restriction will be in place for this area during construction.
During this phase of the project, all traffic on I-265 South needing to exit to I-64 will need to be in the right-hand lane.
Work schedules may be adjusted due to weather or other unforeseen events.
Motorists should be cautious when traveling through active work zones. Signage will be in place to alert drivers of the lane split. |
