Saturday, November 11th Downtown Louisville, Jefferson Street between 7th and 3rd Streets
|
The Kentucky Veterans Parade and Celebration returns to downtown Louisville at 12 p.m. this Saturday for the first time since 2019. This is the 13th year for the parade.
Operation Rendezvous will be the largest undertaking in Kentucky Veterans Parade history consisting of three main components: a convoy, a traditional parade, and a static display.
The convoys will roll beginning at 9 a.m. With four convoys, Middletown Convoy, UAW Fern Valley Convoy, Dixie Manor Convoy, and KILROY Southern Indiana Convoy, there will be groups coming from all around Kentuckiana to converge in downtown Louisville.
|
|
Once downtown, the traditional parade kicks off at 12 p.m. marching east on Jefferson Street from 7th to 4th streets, dispersing after the Pass & Review Stage! Attendees are encouraged to stand along the route waving and cheering on our Veterans and their families.
Featuring dozens of new and returning groups, the parade will be the largest Veterans Day celebration in Kentucky! Children will enjoy seeing all the restored military vehicles pass by as well as many JROTC and other organizations march by in uniform.
Our 2023 Grand Marshal is Captain Marj Graves, a retired Army Nurse who served In Country during the Vietnam War.
To conclude the parade, a Massing of the Colors, a Blessing of the Flags Ceremony, a 21-Gun Salute and the singing of “God Bless America” will take place.
|
|
Following this, a static display will continue until 3 p.m. on Jefferson Street between 3rd and 4th streets and on 3rd Street between Jefferson and Market streets. Live entertainment, including the 202nd U.S. Army Band, the Louisville Thoroughbred Chorus and others will perform on the stage. The display is a great opportunity to meet our country’s heroes face to face and thank them for their service and to check out new and old military vehicles and equipment. There will also be plenty of great information for Veterans and their families.
Free parking will be available at all metered parking spots in downtown Louisville all day long thanks to Parking Authority of River City!
Following your visit to the Kentucky Veterans Day Parade and Celebration, head over to Bearno’s Pizza at 2nd and Main to enjoy some great food, or any of their other nine area locations, where they’ve been serving Louisville-style pizza since 1977.

(November 2, 2023) As part of continuing efforts to improve the customer experience, TARC announced this week an initiative to significantly reduce missed service over the next nine months.
While the vast majority of TARC’s scheduled bus service goes out every day, a small amount of service does not, which creates uncertainties for customers. Eliminating much of this uncertainty – which has increased since the pandemic – is a core TARC focus in the coming year. The effort builds on other recent TARC initiatives to improve on time service, like the pilot program to improve reliability on the #23 Broadway, TARC’s most popular bus line.
“On time and reliable bus service are the most important priorities of our customers,” said TARC Executive Director Carrie Butler. “That is why we are introducing new measures to further enhance the dependability of our service.”
Since the COVID pandemic, TARC, like many public transit agencies nationwide, has experienced an increase in missed service due, in part, to a wave of retirements and region-wide workforce recruitment challenges affecting multiple industries.
“We are continuously recruiting new bus operators, and will continue to do so in the foreseeable future,” said Butler. “At the same time, we will be more proactive with scheduling to make sure we can deliver the service our riders count on.”
Over the next nine months, TARC will adjust several route schedules to “right-size” available service runs and coach operators. In addition, TARC will improve external communications procedures to better alert riders when scheduled service will not be able to be provided.
TARC customers should expect to see service improvements rolled out over the course of three waves beginning immediately with the first phase in October and November. The second phase will occur in January, and the third, and most significant, adjustments will take effect in June, 2024.
October/November improvements
- More consistent communication to TARC riders via TARC text alerts when particular bus runs are likely to be canceled.
Use of TARC bus operator trainers to cover short, peak-time only shifts as part of their field training work. January improvements
- Additional adjustments to reduce operator shifts that are consistently difficult to fill given the available workforce.
Summer/Fall 2024 improvements
- Larger-scale schedule adjustments to better align the TARC service schedule to the current driver pool, including further reductions of shifts and the introduction of more consistent full-day schedules.
- Completion of a comprehensive upgrade of vehicle locator and dispatch hardware to allow more reliable and timely communication to the public in real-time.
1. A consumer reported a cryptocurrency scam with a twist to BBB: the consumer began an online romantic relationship with a stranger on Facebook. This person eventually convinced the consumer to participate in bitcoin investment. This “investment” turned out to be a scam, and the consumer lost thousands of dollars. BBB warns consumers to be wary of unsolicited contact from strangers on social media, and never give out your personal or financial information to anyone you have not met in person.
-
A local consumer lost $16,000 to a police phone call scam. The scammer posed as an officer and informed the victim they had missed a court appearance as a witness in a case, and now warrants had been issued for their arrest. The issue could be resolved by paying hefty fines. This is a common scare tactic used by scammers; never agree to pay or give out financial information until you verify the caller’s identity.
-
A consumer lost $1,000 in a shipping container scam. After paying upfront, the consumer was contacted for money by the container company. When he declined and asked for a refund, he was blocked from any further communication. BBB advises consumers to always check BBB.org first for company profiles before buying from or hiring a company.
- A consumer received a letter in the mail with a check and instructions to cash the check, purchase eBay gift cards, send the scammer the pin numbers on the cards, and then report on his purchase experience. This is a secret shopper/fake check scam. Never cash a check if you do not know its source; you could be on the hook for a fraudulent check’s amount.
-
A consumer lost over $1,000 to an online puppy scam. According to the consumer, the scam website and documents provided by the scammers looked legitimate. BBB advises consumers to never pay for a new pet until they see the animal in person, always check a breeder’s profile on BBB.org first, and pay with a credit card.
-
A consumer lost $500 to an employment scam. After conducting an interview and accepting a position from a scammer claiming to represent Adecco, the consumer received a check to pay for office supplies. After depositing the check, the consumer was told to send $500 to a third party via the Zelle app. The check was fraudulent. BBB warns consumers that any employment opportunity that involves a company sending a check with which to purchase supplies is likely a scam.
-
A consumer lost money on a Pink Lily look alike website. Scammers stole images and information from the Bowling Green, Kentucky store’s website in order to create a fake Pink Lily website. BBB warns consumers to check the url of a company website and avoid clicking on third party ads.
-
Pandemic scams are still circulating. A consumer reported that a friend’s Facebook account had been hacked and was sending messages regarding pandemic-related financial assistance. BBB advises consumers to beware of messages from friends’ accounts that seem unusual or suspicious. Contact the friend directly to alert them their account may have been hacked.
-
A consumer reported a scam email that appeared to come from BBB. Please be advised that BBB@myonlinesecuritysupport.com is not a legitimate BBB email. If you receive a suspicious email that appears to come from BBB, give our office a call.
- BBB advises consumers to be cautious when applying for seasonal jobs this holiday season. Don’t accept any position where an employer asks for payment upfront for supplies or training fees, be wary of jobs that don’t require an interview, and be wary of big money for small jobs.
