Here are some established measures you can take to safeguard your home.
- Install deadbolts on your doors
- Draw the curtains/blinds at night
- Install motion sensor lights outside
- Install a peephole in your door
- Install a home security system
- Install a home security camera such as Ring or SimpliSafe
Home security camera systems are quite popular these days. It’s not clear if they deter crime but they certainly provide the potential for good leads. Home installed cameras have helped LMPD solve hundreds, and possibly more crimes over the years. LMPD can’t recommend a particular brand, but they can recommend looking into one if you don’t already have one.
