 The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has issued a competitive NOFO titled Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing (PRO Housing) for the purpose of providing grant funding for the identification and removal of barriers to affordable housing production and preservation. Eligible applicants are local and state governments, metropolitan planning organizations, and multijurisdictional entities. Grantees may receive up to $10 Million to further develop, evaluate, and implement housing policy plans, improve housing strategies, and facilitate affordable housing production and preservation. The Louisville-Jefferson County Metro Government Office of Housing and Community Development is leading the effort and is working in conjunction with the Office of Planning to apply for the funding.
As part of this application process, the Office of Housing and Community Development is seeking feedback from stakeholders on the barriers they see in their communities in the production of affordable housing. This survey will be open to take responses for 10 days. This is a great opportunity to help shape the goals of the application. Further, a public hearing will occur in October to solicit feedback on the draft application.

We provide a home and compassionate care for individuals at the end of life who have no home or loved ones to care for them so that they may die with dignity and access hospice care. We are the family for our residents and care for them just like family members. Compassionate Companions commit to an ongoing, weekly 5-hour shift. Kentucky's Waste Tire Collection Program was established in 1998 as part of the Energy & Environment Cabinet’s (EEC) ongoing efforts to rid Kentucky’s landscape of waste tires. The EEC contracts for the removal and delivery of the recovered tires to "beneficial end use" markets where they are recycled to become products such as tire-derived fuel or crumb rubber. The program is supported by the Waste Tire Trust Fund, which is funded when tire retailers collect a $2 fee on all new replacement motor vehicle tires sold. Retailers may retain five cents to offset administrative costs, but the balance is required to go in the Waste Tire Trust Fund, which is dedicated to managing scrap tires and developing sustainable markets for recycled tire products. To date, the Waste Tire Collection Program is responsible for the proper disposal of more than 19 million waste tires!
Every three years, Jefferson County hosts a Waste Tire Collection Event. The next event is October 5, 6, and 7 at 1030 Phillips Lane, across from the Kentucky Exposition Center.
Thursday & Friday, 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Saturday, 7 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Tires must be separated by type prior to arrival. Any Kentucky resident is eligible to dispose of an unlimited number of tires EXCEPT tire retailers, scrap/salvage yards, and recycling facilities.
Accepted:
- Tires on or off rim
- Truck, light truck, and passenger
- Tractor and farm implement
- Bicycle, motorcycle, golf cart, ATV
Not Accepted:
- Foam filled
- Calcium filled
- Off road construction
- Rubber tracks
- Solid tires with or without press on rims
- Any tires generated outside of KY
- Tires from tire retailers, scrap/salvage yards, and recycling businesses
