Clean Collaborative Crew Update

The clean collaborative crew removed 257 bags of litter, 9 tires, and 96 other items from 186.40 curb miles and completed 4 service request last week. Below are some streets that were cleaned in and around District 22 the week of August 28, 2023.

  • Bardstown Rd from Gardiner Ln to Hurstbourne Pkwy- 21 Bags and 4 Other Items
  • Seatonville Rd from Bardstown Rd to Billtown Rd- 7 Bags
  • Brentlinger Ln from Bardstown Rd to Seatonville Rd- 6 Bags and 4 Other Items
  • S Hurstbourne Pkwy from I-64 Overpass to Bardstown Rd- 16 Bags, 3 Tires and 4 Other Items
  • Completed 1 Service Request- 2 Bags

Caribbean Cruise to Benefit Friends of the Fern Creek Library

There will be an information meeting on a 5-Night Western Caribbean Cruse that will help raise money for the Friends of the Fern Creek Library, this Wednesday, September 13th at 7:00 p.m at the Fern Creek Community Center (6104 Bardstown Road.)

You are invited to attend this informational meeting to learn more about this 5-night Western Caribbean cruise aboard the Celebrity Cruises Constellation from February 5-10, 2024. For more information on the cruse, go to www.thetraveltutor.com/librarycruise.

Gaslight Festival September 10th through 17th

Enjoy a full week of Gaslight Festival fun in Gaslight Square! Visit restaurants in downtown Jeffersontown Town Square every day during the festival! Ask for their "Gaslight Special" at these participating restaurants: 3rd Turn Brewery, Bearno’s 502, El Nopal, Feast BBQ, Gaslight Diner, Karem’s, and The JTown Beach.

Then get ready for 7 days of fun and activities kicking off with the Gaslight Motorcycle Rally on Sunday September 10th. Following that is the Gaslight Golf Scramble on Monday, September 11th, and the Gaslight 5K Run/Walk on Tuesday, September 12th. 

During Business Appreciation Day on Wednesday, September 13th the City of Jeffersontown will provide lunch and live entertainment to all the local businesses and employees of Jeffersontown! On Thursday, get ready to kick off a fun-filled weekend with the Gaslight Festival Parade! The parade begins at 6 p.m. and starts at Jeffersontown Commons Shopping Center and goes East on Taylorsville Road, then South on Watterson Trail to College Drive.

Friday through Sunday enjoy Gaslight Festival Weekend with more than 135 arts & crafts vendors from across the country showcasing their talents, and over 130 area business, civic & nonprofit organizations spreading awareness at this 3-day event! During the weekend celebrations enjoy the Balloon Glow on Friday, September 15th, and the Gaslight Festival Car Show on Sunday, September 17th!

Nature Connects at the Louisville Zoo Now through September 17th.

Nature Connects is an award-winning exhibition showcasing sculptures and exhibits created by artist Sean Kenney, and it is currently being displayed at the Louisville Zoo. His sculptures, made with simple LEGO toys, explore the interconnectedness of our natural world. Sean’s enormous and precise structures offer a playful twist on traditional sculptural art, making it accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. 

The Louisville Zoo provides a unique and stunning backdrop for Sean’s artwork, creating an unforgettable experience for visitors. The exhibition, which features 16 sculptures made from more than 500,000 LEGO bricks, will leave you in awe and inspire a deeper connection to the natural world. Nature Connects encourages visitors to appreciate and understand the complex connections between humans and nature, while also enjoying the playful and imaginative world of LEGO bricks.
