Starting September 4, 2023, Basham Construction is planning to begin work to replace a culvert on S Watterson Trail just north of Ferndale Ave. Associated with this work will be roadway improvements north of the culvert to secure the retaining walls which exist currently and repaving of the roadway within those limits. Construction is anticipated to last until November 22, 2023. Below is the planned detour which will be in place through the duration of the project. .

Kentucky’s Waste Tire Collection Program was established in 1998 as part of the Energy & Environment Cabinet’s (EEC) ongoing efforts to rid Kentucky’s landscape of waste tires. The EEC contracts for the removal and delivery of the recovered tires to "beneficial end use" markets where they are recycled to become products such as tire-derived fuel or crumb rubber. The program is supported by the Waste Tire Trust Fund, which is funded when tire retailers collect a $2 fee on all new replacement motor vehicle tires sold. Retailers may retain five cents to offset administrative costs, but the balance is required to go in the Waste Tire Trust Fund, which is dedicated to managing scrap tires and developing sustainable markets for recycled tire products. To date, the Waste Tire Collection Program is responsible for the proper disposal of more than 19 million waste tires!
Every three years, Jefferson County hosts a Waste Tire Collection Event. The next event is October 5, 6, and 7 at 1030 Phillips Lane, across from the Kentucky Exposition Center.
Thursday & Friday, 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Saturday, 7 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Tires must be separated by type prior to arrival. Any Kentucky resident is eligible to dispose of an unlimited number of tires EXCEPT tire retailers, scrap/salvage yards, and recycling facilities.
Accepted:
- Tires on or off rim
- Truck, light truck, and passenger
- Tractor and farm implement
- Bicycle, motorcycle, golf cart, ATV
Not Accepted:
- Foam filled
- Calcium filled
- Off road construction
- Rubber tracks
- Solid tires with or without press on rims
- Any tires generated outside of KY
- Tires from tire retailers, scrap/salvage yards, and recycling businesses

 The Parks Alliance of Louisville is pleased to announce tickets for their largest fundraiser of the year go on sale Friday, September 1. Jack O’Lantern Spectacular presented by Thorntons has become an annual tradition for Louisvillian’s and visitors alike.
Jack O’Lantern Spectacular, presented by Thorntons, is celebrating its 11th year from October 3-31 at Iroquois Park. This year’s theme is “Wanderlust: The World is Your Pumpkin,” and will feature skits and scenes from travel destinations from across the country and around the world. Guests can weave their way through the woods and visit national parks, ancient wonders of the world, and other “bucket list” destinations. Attendees should be prepared to enjoy re-creations of Route 66, the Grand Canyon, ancient pyramids, and Merry Olde England.“

 As the 85th Iroquois Amphitheater season continues, Louisville Parks and Recreation is excited to announce that 12 additional free movie nights will be added to this year’s calendar.

- September 27: The Rocky Horror Picture Show (R) 7:30 p.m.
