Fairdale Playtorium Senior Events

pictures

There are many events that seniors in our community can enjoy at the Fairdale Playtorium.  Most notably is the Senior Nutrition Center, which serves nutritional lunchtime meals to active senior citizens and delivers to homebound seniors through the Meals on Wheels Program, throughout the Louisville Metro area. These programs help to improve the lives of older adults by supporting good nutritional health and promoting their independence and well-being.

luau

This past week, Lisa Moore with Jencare Senior Medical hosted a paint and sip class.  Jenni Metzger helped to organize and lead the class.  The participants created beautiful landscape paintings to take home.

The following day a festive Luau was held complete with grass skirts and leis. There was delicious food, fellowship, and fun.

The next event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 29 at 5:00 pm.  The Fairdale Prime Timers, hosted by Bill and Sherry Gaines, will enjoy bbq, a cakewalk, and cornhole!  If you are a senior and interested in participating in any of these monthly events, please contact Lisa in my office at (502) 574-1113.

Employers & Employees Now Eligible for the Employee Child Care Assistance Partnership –(ECCAP)

Child

Kentucky has launched an innovative new program to assist working families with the cost of child care and help employers attract and retain talent. The Employee Child Care Assistance Partnership (ECCAP) helps employers meaningfully contribute financial assistance directly to employee child care costs by matching their contribution up to 100%, potentially doubling the value of their employer-provided benefit. For example, if an employer commits $100 per month to their employees' child care expenses, the state may match that contribution up to another $100, giving employees a total of up to $200 in child care assistance. All funds from the employer and the state are paid directly to eligible child care providers, who are included in this database. Various program restrictions apply. To learn more, view the Kentucky Chamber's ECCAP resource page here, visit Kentucky's ECCAP program page hereor send inquires to PartnershipChildCare@ky.gov

Association of Community Ministries Issues RFP To Close the Housing Navigation Services Gap

The Association of Community Ministries (ACM) is excited to announce the issuance of a unique Request for Proposals offering to fund a project that provides tools and/or resources that support housing navigation and could be utilized by community service providers across the Louisville Metro area to better serve their clients searching for, or seeking to maintain, stabilized housing.

This RFP offers up to $10,000 for the proposal that we believe is likely to have the greatest positive impact on housing navigation and is deemed reasonably achievable in the current environment.

While ACM believes a website or phone app that provides current data about housing opportunities may be one of the best contributions that could be made to help close the housing navigation service gap, we are excited to consider other potential contributions as well. The full RFP is available for download here:  louisvilleministries.org/s/RFP-4pww.pdf

Proposals will be evaluated by an ad hoc committee made up of members of Louisville’s Eviction Prevention Working Group. This RFP is offered in collaboration with the National Low Income Housing Coalition’s ERASE  (End Rental Arrears to Stop Evictions) Program.
