Hard Work, Dependability, and Attention to Detail

Headquartered in Louisville, KY, the First Class Commercial Cleaning mission is to provide the highest level of professional, quality cleaning to every client. First Class will provide consistent and dependable service with integrity not often seen in the cleaning industry today.  Their professional teams will perform First Class service to your specifications, regardless of the size of your office or building.

First Class Commercial Cleaning was founded by native Louisvillian John Disselkamp, a former career banker who was recognized on the annual Forty under 40 List by Business First magazine for his business success and civic contributions.

“Our goal is simple, to provide a clean office environment you will be proud of.  To accomplish this goal, our First Class team members take ownership our work and the buildings we clean and treat your office as if it were our own.  “First Class” means superior customer service, rigorous attention to detail, and old-fashioned dependability.  Let us show you the First Class Difference!”

A Great Grand Opening

s

Shady Rays officially opened Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Oxmoor Center. The store faces Shelbyville Road near the Von Maur retail store.

s

Chris Ratterman, a Louisville resident, started Shady Rays at his home --- in fact, in his bedroom. The company is a national brand and is now in five stores. The first 100 people through the doors during the grand opening received a free pair of sunglasses.

"Our problem with sunglasses for years has been trying to find a pair that can keep up while outside running, hiking, working, in the waves, you name it - but we didn't want to wear sunglasses that cost hundreds of dollars and risk breaking, scratching, or losing them.

That's why we built Shady Rays.

OFFICE FOR WOMEN

The Louisville Metro Office for Women (OFW) was founded in 1991 with a focus on advancing the status of women in our community through education, advocacy and legislation. We utilize collaboration and engagement as vehicles to improve local gender equality and equity through the lens of intersectionality.

The Office's efforts have been instrumental in the implementation of policies, collaborations and tools to improve the safety and well-being of women and their families. Among the successful outcomes of such collaborations are: The creation of VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday) which is now available in all but three states; and the Trauma Informed Support (TIS) Project which included OFW, LMPD and JCPS in an effort to identify children who have been exposed to domestic violence as early as possible after the trauma occurs.

We work to ensure that women have the resources, information and a quality of life that are necessary for self-determination and self-sufficiency. The OFW is housed within the Office of Equity and our broad focus includes:

  • Gender-Based Violence
  • Human Trafficking
  • Social and Economic Well-Being
  • Housing
  • Education
  • Civic Engagement
  • Autonomy

Never Spill While Boiling Water Again

b

If you spend enough time in the kitchen, you will end up familiarizing yourself with cooking on the stovetop. Stovetop cooking can be a great way to throw together a quick meal. Unfortunately, if you get distracted while boiling your water you can end up with a mess on your hands!

To limit your exposure to messy spills from water boiling over, get in the habit of keeping a wooden spoon handy! When you step away from your boiling water, merely lay the spoon across the top of the pot. The spoon will prevent the water from overflowing while you work on other parts of your meal!

Development Plan 2040

d

Stay aware of new development in your area!  Sign up for Gov Delivery notifications at:

https://public.govdelivery.com/accounts/KYLOUISVILLE/subscriber/new

On January 1, 2019, a new Comprehensive Plan, called Plan 2040, went into effect. As a resident of District 7 (or any district in Louisville), it is important to review the Comprehensive Plan if you are interested in development that is proposed for the neighborhood. The Comprehensive Plan is the guidepost for all development, and the Planning Commission must use it as one of the guiding principles and tools for making decisions regarding the approval or denial of a neighborhood development project.

Read The Comprehensive Plan (Plan 2040)

The Comprehensive Plan is representative of over 6,000 voices, including Metro staff, an advisory committee, and resident volunteers. The Advisory Committee, made up of diverse representatives from neighborhood and community organizations as well as development and business interests, finalized its recommended goals, objectives, and policies on February 21, 2018.

On April 16, 2018, the Planning Commission recommended the Comprehensive Plan for approval. The document was then reviewed by the Metro Council as well as 12 local municipalities with zoning authority for formal adoption. Those 12 local municipalities are: Anchorage, Douglass Hills, Graymoor-Devondale, Hurstbourne, Indian Hills, Jeffersontown, Lyndon, Middletown, Prospect, Shively, St. Matthews, and St. Regis Park.
