Louisville Zoo welcomes three new colobus monkeys!
The Louisville Zoo is happy to announce three new additions! Three female colobus monkeys will join the Zoo’s male colobus Sheldon at the colobus exhibit near the African Outpost. The three new females are still in their standard 30-day quarantine but will be visible to the public in the indoor space of Colobus Crossing.
The monkeys come to Louisville from the Lincoln Children’s Zoo in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The Zoo is excited for everyone to meet 8-year-old Nali (nah lee), seen in the photo on the left, and her daughters, 3-year-old Ate (ah tay) and 2-year-old Phyllis.
Guests can identify the trio by their size. The youngest and smallest, Phyllis, is curious. Ate is the most interactive with the public and can often be found at the window or edge looking at guests. Nali, their mother, is the largest right now and is an excellent parent displaying good maternal behaviors.
Once the quarantine is complete, the trio will be acclimated to the rest of their space and introductions to Sheldon will begin.
