FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Final Reapportionment Commission meeting on July 10

Commission will finalize its recommendation to the Council

Louisville (July 7, 2023) – The Reapportionment Commission charged with drawing Fiscal Court Commissioner districts will hold its final meeting on Monday, July 10, at 1:00 p.m.  The meeting will be held at Historic City Hall, located at 601 West Jefferson Street, in the 1st floor conference room.

The Commission is comprised of three Jefferson County residents and a non-voting County Clerk representative.  The Commission is tasked to reapportion the county into three districts.  The reapportionment commissioners are Chris Boone (District A), Chair Wanda Mitchell Smith (District B), and Jim Hughes (District C).

Within sixty days of the appointment of the commissioners, the commissioners must file a written report with Metro Council and the County Clerk.  That report will recommend district boundary lines.  Within sixty days of the receipt of the report, Metro Council shall adopt or amend the report by ordinance.

The Commission reviewed the proposed maps at its June 21 meeting, which was open for public comment on the proposal. The July meeting will recommend a final version, which will be submitted to the Louisville Metro Council.

The meeting is open to the public. The public may enter City Hall using the Sixth Street entrance.  Anyone needing assistance may enter City Hall from the Jefferson Street entrance.

If you have any questions about the Commission, please contact Brian Powell at (502) 574-1192.
