Free Spring Break Activities at the Library
Are you staycationing this Spring Break and looking for some free activities to keep the kids busy? Or maybe your teenagers need a no-cost place to hang out and relax? Then check out the Louisville Free Public Library!
This week the Library will offer more than 100 free programs and activities to help combat spring break boredom for kids of all ages. LFPL offers hands-on learning programs for children to play, create, and explore together, including interactive storytimes, puppet shows, crafts, scavenger hunts, and STEAM activities at locations across Louisville. Spring Break presenters include Louisville Nature Center, Ambo Dance Theatre, storyteller Marsha Roth, Second Chances Wildlife, and 4-H.
Teenagers can participate in a variety of creative projects at branches around town, as well as just hang out and meet other teens in a safe space. Programs include open hours in our Maker Labs, board and video games, book and writing clubs, and more.
The Library also offers kids and teens access to thousands of books, eBooks, graphic novels, blockbuster movies, and popular music – available free with a library card.

Neighborhood Derby Parking Meeting
Churchill Downs welcomes affected neighbors to attend a meeting to discuss parking plans for the 149th Kentucky Derby in the neighborhood.
The meeting will be held at Churchill Downs on Thursday April 13th at 6:30PM in the Starting Gate Suites, 4th Floor.
Please park in the red or black lots and enter via the Executive Gate behind the Barbaro Statue. Signs will direct you to the Starting Gate Suites from there.

Tenants' Rights Workshop
On April 11, 2023, the HUD Kentucky Field Office will hold a Tenants' Rights Workshop open to both tenants and landlords.
- Opening Remarks by Mayor Greenberg
- Three 25-minute presentations by the Louisville legal aid society, code enforcement, and the Lexington Fair Housing Council
- After the presentations, there will be a panel where the audience can ask questions.
- One-hour outreach section. Service providers and strategic partners from across the city will set up tables and hand out information.
This event will be held at the Home of the Innocents with a morning session at 10 am and an evening session starting at 5 pm.

Brightside Community-Wide Spring Cleanup
We encourage all residents to take part in Brightside's Community-Wide Cleanups. Held in the spring and fall, the events are a great service opportunity for boy/girl scouts, sports teams, faith groups and community organizations. It could also be a corporate team bonding opportunity!

Americana Community Center is hiring a Weekend Front Desk Assistant
Weekend Outreach & Front Desk Assistant is responsible for the weekend shift (Friday and Saturday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) opening the building, welcoming and directing participants, volunteers and visitors to various programming within the building, leading volunteer groups to complete projects, tabling events offsite and closing the facility.
The Weekend Outreach & Front Desk Assistant will work with the Americana team to support our primary population of refugee, immigrant and U.S. born youth and parents learning English as a Second language (ESL).

Input Requested: Preston Corridor Plan Draft
The Preston Corridor Plan, prepared by Louisville Metro’s Office of Advanced Planning, is ready for public review!
City planners have been working with transportation planning professionals from WSP Inc, MKSK, and EHI Consultants to develop a long-range plan for the Preston Corridor that aims to decrease the number of severe and fatal crashes on the roadway and improve the number and availability of useful transportation options along the corridor.
The full draft of the plan is available on the project website (https://www.prestoncorridorplan.org/) along with a survey for the public to submit their feedback.
According to the Kentucky State Police, there have been 13 fatalities and 33 serious injuries on Preston Highway since the Preston Corridor Plan process began in 2021.
Input Requested: Transportation Planning
KIPDA is seeking feedback on two important plans:
- The Connecting Kentuckiana 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan will look toward the future of the region with transportation.
- The FY 2023-2026 Transportation Improvement Program features allocated funded projects and focuses more on the now in transportation planning.
The public has until April 22, 2023 to review both draft documents and leave comments. The collected feedback will be presented to the Transportation Policy Committee for their consideration.
The public will have two opportunities to provide feedback live at virtual public meetings.
